Field mushrooms very disappointing — little flavour and primarily a beans dish. Coffee not bad, lovely atmosphere and good service.

I am always back at this café for their infamous beautiful looking Panna cotta. It’s not an exaggeration to say that they started the Panna cotta dish trend in Perth. This time, it was matcha & vanilla bean Panna cotta which was absolutely cracking. Soft, creamy and rich in matcha flavour with spiced chia seeds pudding in the middle. All the ingredients on the plate were in harmony including puffed millet, Manuka honey, fruits, and crunchy & chewy granola. I’ve tried my fair share of granolas in Perth, and it was one of the top ones that I have indulged in. The service was great, the foods on the menu are on the high end of the price range for café foods. However, given the quality and quantity of ingredients they use including fresh fruits and vegetables, the prices seemed reasonable.

Went with a friend for brunch on Sunday morning, and luckily arrived before people had to start queuing for a table. We loved the funky décor, the different seating styles, and the little touches that add to the charm of Fez. A tiny vase of bright little flowers on the tables, and ceramic water jugs were welcome touches. Having come out of a fast the day before, I was ready to wrap my gums around something sinful and delicious and chose the pancakes with maple syrup, mascarpone and berry compote. The pancakes were beautifully soft and the jug of maple syrup ensured each pancake got a generous soak. There was just enough mascarpone to add a rich, creamy touch to the dish. I thoroughly enjoyed this breakfast treat, along with my long mac topped up. My friend wasn’t that hungry and ordered the fruit and nut toast with butter and jam, which she was also very content with. There’s a glass counter with ready made baguettes and croissants, and some appealing cakes, slices and in-house muffins if you just fancy coffee and cake. They also do a range of smoothies and juices. Service was efficient and friendly, and the place was super busy by the time we left at 11, with people hanging about waiting for tables. It’s a good idea to get here before 10 on the weekends if you don’t want to wait, and several groups of people wandered off in search of other cafes when they got sick of waiting. It’s not such a big issue in Mt Lawley as you’ll always manage to find somewhere to eat!

Hit this spot up for brunch. Awesome décor! So fresh and comfortable and very«mount lawley» with it’s welcoming vibes and pops of colour. Service was great and getting a table for 4 was pretty easy on a weekday at 11am. We ordered pancakes, smoaked salmon eggs, fried eggs on toast and the dices steak. Oh I wish I could have given it a good rating! It was a good spot don’t get me wrong but upon eating my meal and trying everyone else’s meal I didn’t eat anything that floored me. My plate was the smoked salmon– there was just too much happening on the plate, poached eggs salmon, goats cheese, a mountain of sprouts, cardamom sauce and added herbs I think I was over the meal after 3 helpings. I was so dissapointed I could barely finish the meal. Simplicity is key sometimes! Coffee was good and I will come back for a catch up over coffee any time. Maybe I came on aan off day. I’ll just have to come back and try it again to see!

Having this unhealthy relationship with food I am highly ashamed about, I went to fez having ogled their menu for months and dreaming about the baja burrito(hot spicy burrito with black beans) and it was not to be found on the menu. I was disappointed with their small selection of brunch items only five but my rating has to be based on my experience. And I had a positive experience. I arrived to this warm atmosphere where I was seated in the outdoors area facing the street, with a lovely waitress who got our coffee orders promptly. I ordered the rye toast with avocado, smoked salmon and poached eggs with turmeric dill cream. I also got a cappucino that came in this massive massive mug and my friend ordered a hot chocolate. The turmeric dill cream had a delicious flavour and was a pleasant, much desired contrast to the overly sweet tomato relish or chutney you get at most cafes. The rye toast was scrumptious and generously coated with avocado and there were three well proportioned bits of smoked salmon on top of my toast. I enjoyed my cappucino(though very milky but great value for money). Our bill came to around 29.95 for the two of us. Good taste, pleasant experience and pleasant service. Next time I’m coming back for the tempting desserts and interesting muffins(cauliflower muffin with pesto and cheese).

Tried out Fez fot dinner last night. We have really enjoyed the place for breakfast previously and we were hoping there recent small bar play was going to be successful. The menu was small, and the four of us tried one of each of the four dishes. The beef brisket was yum and juicy if not a little too fatty. Rave reviews for the gnocchi, octopus and pork. The drinks menu was solid and not overrpriced which is a rarity in mt lawley with no beer over 10 bucks. Atmosphere for a Friday night was a bit lacking but would go again

These guys have recently launched a dinner menu so thought we’d give it a go! The menu is small offering 4 main dishes, 3 – 4 small plates and a series of sides and salads. We decided to order 1 of each of the main dishes to give the menu a real taste test. 1. Grilled Octopus; this was absolutely delicious. The octopus was tender and was complimented well by the bed of sweet potato mash with picked zucchini and grilled asparagus. The addition of the wild pig chorizo worked well. Relatively small serving though. 2. Pulled Pork Shoulder; this is essentially a pulled pork burger with coleslaw salad. I think this would have to be the best value given the large serving size for $ 20. 3. Asian beef brisket; essentially a beef stir fry with your favourite Asian greens. The flavours were there however the beef was a bit fatty. 4. Gnocchi with sage and mushroom; once again a small serving but gnocchi were super sized — I would probably wouldn’t list it as a main especially at $ 26 We had a side of mini roasted potatos which worked well. The waiters also provided olives and smoked almonds as a complimentary snack which was a nice way to start. Good drinks menu but we weren’t offered dessert(quite often the best part!!) Overall an enjoyable dining experience however there were a few cracks in the service which I’m sure will smooth out over time. Super keen to come back for brunch however!

Peanut butter choc brownies and house bean cap. Beautiful, brownies were spectacular and the coffee bean they use was a revelation to how fruity/nutty coffee should taste. A café you gotta visit! Thanks guys, will definitely be back

Friendly service. Place was full so the food took a while to come out for a Sunday brunch. Food was delicious but did not completely fill me up(I had the pancakes and could have done with a fourth one for their smallish size). My tea was nice, and my dining companion’s first coffee was a little watery but the second one was spot on when asked for a strongly made one(this was for a caffeine addicted teacher fyi)

Fez is now open for dinner! Yippee! We went there recently and dinner was amazing. Pulled pork shoulder burger, Asian beef brisket and roasted potatoes. All fantastic. They have a good $ 50 dinner deal and the portion sizes are on the larger side. Plus, the brownies regularly change with delicious flavours, I had a peanut butter brownie this time, but have had the oreo brownie before too.

I had the Smoked Salmon with gluten free bread, feta and avocado smash, radicchio, cucumber, poached eggs and topped with turmeric and dill cream($ 20). The flavour combinations work harmoniously together and is texturally well balanced. There’s the fresh and slight smokey flavour from the smoked salmon, complementing well with the creamy textures of the avocado smash. My poached eggs were also poached to perfection with oozing yellow liquid drizzling down onto the plate. The stand out for the dish for me would be the turmeric and dill cream, which is creamy, thick and very smooth. Elwyn had the corned beef hash($ 22) with mixed roast potatoes, herbs, onions and garlic, kale, house pickles, fried eggs and horseradish cream. The perfect combination of what you needed as a refuel after smashing a combat class! I sneaked a taste of the corned beef hash dish and thought that it was delicious and full of flavour. The corned beef hash at Fez had a similar texture to a pulled beef, soft and tender. Besides serving up good breakfast or brunch food, Fez also offers a good range of cakes and I must say that they do look very good and very tempting. If only I had some extra space left in my stomach. Fez Café makes a perfect place to catch up with friends over breakfast, brunch or coffee, a brunch date or to indulge in a slice of cake and coffee.

Oh my goodness, the sweet muffin I had from there this morning was amazing — chocolate bits, brownie bits, strawberries, nuts — drooling! Also, I love their coffee, they use the lovely WA Darkstar roasted beans & it’s the perfect blend of strong, nutty & feels like a special treat rather than just a pick me up. One of Mount Lawley’s finest!

A Great spot for a lazy Sunday Brunch Me and Susan sauntered over to this establishment to give their brekkie menu a shot on Sunday and were greeted with a smile, friendly service and were quickly seated. Opting for an iced coffee(yes I caved and accepted whipped cream on top) and a Peanut Butter and Almond milkshake(daily special) to quench our thirst, we decided on the Strawberries and Cream Panna-cotta with cocoa spiced chia seeds, seasonal fruits, pistachio and coconut granola and puffed buckwheat and also the Field Mushrooms with spinach, house beans, creamy fetta and garlic bread. The presentation for the first dish was quite picturesque whilst that of the second was as expected(what can you do with beans?). In regards to flavours and executions of both dishes, we couldn’t find any faults, bar that we both thought the bean dish would be better suited to the colder months. The whole experience from whoa to go was pleasant and with parking close by I can’t see why I wouldn’t return in the future.

Fez’s cakes and sweets are made on site daily and are a teaser when ordering/paying for food. The treats are a sight for the eyes! I love that there is an array of variety to choose from, especially the gluten intolerant such as myself. Recently I took my baby cousin to have a coffee date w family and as I’d been teased in the past with their pb brownie requested it to try with the family, as they were not available. I was offered the Nutella brownie, fresh out the oven, sliced w Nutella and hazelnuts between two delectable chic brownies! A must try for chocoholics(see pic!) I’m a big coffee person, the first time I tried coffee here I wasn’t a fan. Found it quite bitter and empowering in taste. Since returning from America, where espresso coffee is slowly growing I have grown an appreciation for REAL coffee. I crave Fez coffee daily. It’s not for all tastebuds, I have weekly coffees here w family & they find the blend at times over powering and opt for lattes and flat whites. I prefer my long macc, in summer they have an iced long macc which is my go to every time! This has 4 shots and a slight top up off milk — my fave coffee beverage and I don’t feel like I’m getting ripped off for my $$$. I leave satisfied every time. Staff are always lovely and happy! Definite bonus. Try for a different scene in food, coffee and treats. A great atmosphere.

One Sunday recently my best friend Vee and I decided to face the almost 40 degree weather and brave it out to have a lunch date. Unfortunately many of the places we were considering were shut on Sundays, but we quickly found a nice close location that we were both quite excited about — Fez Café in Mount Lawley. We arrive around 1pm, taking a seat in the shaded outdoor area next to the archway to inside(best of both worlds — fresh air + cold inside temperature). Looking over the menu they have a good mix of items on offer — some more breakfasty and others suited to lunch. My initial choices of the granola and pannacotta plus a coconut water fell through as they’d sold out for the day, so I quickly set about picking something else. In the mean time we order some drinks to kick start our meal. Talk about order envy. The moment I spied Vee’s spiced chicken salad with quinoa, avocado, fetta, hazelnut, tomato, cucumber and sweet mustard dressing($ 21.95) I became completely enamored with it. Lucky for me, my friends and I are never shy about sharing food so I snagged a couple bites of it and was pleased to note that it tasted as good as it looked. In particular the dressing was sweet and punchy, and the hazelnuts were perfectly crunchy. I’m a big fan of nuts in dishes(when they make sense), and their distinct flavour was just right in my opinion. What I also liked about this menu item is just how generous they were with the feta. It’s hard to see it, but the dish was swimming in chunky feta cubes… just how I like to eat my salad! Since I couldn’t order granola but knowing I was in the mood for something a little sweet and cool, I pick the special of the day — coconut and chia chilled rice pudding with stewed stonefruits, blueberry compote, pomegrantes and honey($ 16.00). Apparently this is now a permanent dish too if it sounds up your alley! I actually surprised myself when I ordered this dish since I’m not a person who’s grown up on rice puddings. For my boy, rice pudding desserts were a staple in his childhood, a dish of great nostalgia. But for me, I’ve only tried it for the first time in the last couple of years — and this one would have to be my favourite of those I’ve tasted. The consistency of this rice pudding was soft but not mushy, the different fruits offering varying degrees of texture. The dish was sweet but not overpowering, and the blueberry compote had just the right sour tinge to the flavour profile to keep my tastebuds engaged throughout. It comes with little jugs of milk, honey and what I think might have been maple syrup to pour over the dish to your liking. Ah summer days(or summer daze as it tends to wash over you), you are built for outings like this. Fresh, delicious food. Cold, satisfying drinks. And the best kind of company you could ever ask for. Fez Café was just the right setting with just the right food.

I’ve only ever ordered hot beverages and sweets from here, but I must say, I was more than happy with my orders. I’m gluten intolerant and there are many sweet options to choose from. The chocolate brownie is my favourite. The service has been awesome every time I’ve been here — the staff actually want to have a conversation with you. On weekends get there early, mega busy!

Under new management, Fez is more open and spacious with a range of daily sandwich specials and less Moroccan than previously. Unfortunately, if you are not in the mood for sandwiches, salads or a sweet something, there isn’t much else on offer. It’s either big and pricey or small and bite sized, nothing in between. Service is good, however food seems a bit on the slow side. I shared one of the«Mediterranean gourmet rolls», consisting of chicken, avocado and mayo sandwich for $ 13.95. Not extremely Mediterranean if you ask me! The toasted sandwich was light and fresh, however I felt that it was something that I could of made at home for cheaper. I don’t know what happened, but I think I’ll just stick to a coffee.

I drive past this place almost every day and have wanted to try it for months so I was excited when a girlfriend chose it for brekky. It was nice a quiet and the service was lovely and friendly. We both got the poached eggs with avocado, Danish feta and cherry tomatoes and it was delicious! The produce was fresh and the portion size perfect, they even brought out homemade butter for our bread. The coffee was also delicious and the food came out really quick which was great cos I didn’t have much time to eat. Not too pricey either so all in all a great experience.
