As a basketball player I would like to think that I can give an insight to this place that many cant. For years we had toiled away in the former Perry Lakes Stadium with its asbestos roof and extreme summer temperatures, and we patiently have waited for this. The new centre, for all its striking design and shiny presentation, it still falls short in several areas. From a players point of view the rings are a bit tinny on the main court, and seem a little low on the back ones. The dividers between the back courts are just like big plastic curtains which aren’t ideal. There is something soul-less about the venue though, the roof is so high its impossible to generate a good atmosphere even when its full. It may seem i have been bagging it out but i guess I just have such fond memories of the olden days its hard to let go. The stadium is a vast improvement over its predecessor and a great leap forward for basketball in WA

Thank golly God this place has finally been finished. Externally, it is very appealing. Internally, it’s bloody cool too. Filled with endless brand-spankin-new basketball courts, Saturday and Sunday mornings are awash with adorable children throwing around basketballs like they were footies instead. As the afternoon rolls on, the children turn into teenagers and then the really ballin’ begins. My sister plays in the little league so I’m there almost every Saturday. They also do coaching lessons, so if you want to to become a trainer of a basketball team, you can easily do that. This centre is also the home to the local NBL and WNBL teams. I haven’t had a chance to actually watch one unfortunately, but I will have to do it one day.
