After working up an appetite following a 7 km walk around Clifton Gardens and Middle Head we decided to head to Mosman for coffee and something to eat for lunch. Spotted the new Salt Meats Cheese by accident and decided to check it out, and so glad we did. As it was midweek we had no trouble finding a small table, but the place began filling up with«ladies who lunch», as well as spotting one group of «men who lunch» —(read 4x soup of the day and a bottle of good red). My vego friend ordered the margarita pizza slice, while I went for the warmed Cuban roast pork, ham, and provolone roll, and we shared truffle fries. Service was quick, attentive, and the food was — mmmnnn deliciously salty, meaty(mine) and cheesy! The coffee was not standout but quite drinkable, and prices are not too expensive either. I can imagine this could be a good spot for a couple of Friday arvo drinks or back to check out the Thursday night live Jazz.

This second branch of Salt Meats Cheese in Sydney has made it easier for me to get the yummy pizza bases and other goodies without travelling as far as Alexandria. It’s much smaller than the original store at Alexandria and stocks a lot fewer products. There is a freezer and fridge section, a deli counter, some pastries near the cashier, but not many dry goods. There is only 1 table with dry goods such as crackers and jams. The café space had a pub atmosphere at night — loud, live singer, dimly lit, chaotic, and moderate selection of deli food. The truffle and parmesan fries were the stand out. The cheese board came with a really ordinary small sliced baguette and 4 Ritz crackers. Service was lacking — the waitstaff were helpful but there aren’t enough servers to cater to the customers.
