We started our lunch with an appetizer of Bruschetta of spanish onion, tomato, parmesan & balsamic glaze. It was presented on large pieces of bread which was a great way to deliver a delicious appetizer. The birthday boy who we arranged the luncheon for ordered a dozen oysters as a start to his meal which he enjoyed. We had a variety of entrees. I had the risotto with shrimp which was a special of the day. I have had risotto in many parts of the world and never was served it in tomato sauce. As a result it never occurred to ask how it was prepared. I assumed it would be traditional. I was very disappointed in this dish. It was likely prepared well but it wasn’t what I wanted at all. The birthday boy ordered the seafood platter for two. It was very expensive but made for a nice presentation and was delicious. Everyone else enjoyed their entrees except for one of the teenagers who ordered a salad and I believe that had nothing to do with the preparation of the salad. To make up for her entrée we allowed her to order the sticky date pudding and she was very happy with it. Service was the only issue here aside from my entrée. The server was a delight and always responded when called upon but it seemed like the food preparation was the issue. Took a very long time. They did a nice job though when surprising our birthday guest with his cake. I had to grab the manager to get their attention once we sang happy birthday as we didn’t have plates or anything and that was because he expected to cut the cake and serve ice-cream with it. Which they did promptly but it would have been nice if they were there once the song was done to quickly move things along without having to track them down. Server and manager were both extremely nice but a bit more attention to detail would be good and something needs to be done to get the food prepared quicker. It was too too slow. Overall we had a nice lunch with a lovely view.

Lovely location, having a café right at water level at The Spit. There’s even a little sandy spot of beach where the young ones(or the young at heart) can play when they’re done their meal and the grown-ups need to finish their corn fritters. The brunch I had here was pleasant. My smoked salmon and egg scramble was plentiful if perhaps slightly overcooked. Coffee was nice. Service was a bit average. But the surroundings really make this place. In addition to the tiny beach there are yachts to fantasize over, and the Spit bridge going up to let sailboats through for entertainment.

That is exactly what you are inclined to do at Plonk — plonk your feet in the water! Set on the waterfront at The Spit, Plonk Beach Café is a well kept secret. Hidden away from the always busy traffic on the Spit Bridge the little café spills out onto sand and water which makes for a perfectly relaxed Sunday breakfast. The vibe here is totally laid-back and low-key. The breakfast menu is a standard café breakfast menu but the food is fresh and delicious. A really great spot which you’ll have trouble dragging yourself away from.

Interested in going somewhere different to get your caffeine fix? Plonk beach café is located close to Spit Bridge. The views from their outdoor café is picture perfect. Boats, Marinas, water, everything reminds me of rest and relaxation. Their Flat white was very good. However, avoid ordering anything cold to drink as their Milkshake glass is a bit tacky. The bruschetta is very good and my pick over the herbed bread. Service is not the friendliest, but with spectacular views, i actually preferred that. Sadly, i didn’t get to see the Spit bridge open.
