This bakery produce the best French Stick! it is rustic and authentic, just like how you get in Paris.
Every Sat morning we grab one, then walk a few doors up and purchase some meats from the Fenside Deli — wool ah you have the ingredients for the continental roll from heaven.
I always eat mine upside down so you don’t scratch the roof of your mouth– a little tip I learnt from a family I stayed with in the south of France.
The French stick retails for $ 3.00 which is pretty good value considering the high quality. The breads here are so much better than the overpriced stale bread you get at Bakers delight.
Each week I think, right I’m going to try a different loaf this time, and each week I just cant pass up that French stick! You must eat it on the day of purchase to truly enjoy it.
It takes me back to backpacking around France, when I had no money and it was cheaper to buy a bottle of red wine than water so we would buy a bottle of red, a french stick and a small wheel of cheese. We would cut them with my Swiss army knife and tuck in– pure class.
