Came to the Junction club for Wednesday steak night. $ 14.90 for scotch or porterhouse with chips & salad, and glass of wine, soft drink, or beer. How can you beat that? And the steak is always cooked just how you like it. Better to book ahead as most tables are reserved in advance. Check it out if you’re down puckle st way.

It’s simply a pokies slash TAB pub. Yes they have lunch/dinner, yes they occasionally run a series of trivia or poker nights, yes they have TV’s showing a plethora of sports(but in the bistro so not ideal for decent viewing anyway), but all in all it’s your local pokies pub /TAB with semi cheap not so crash meals. It used to be the only place to get a quick decent sized meal with a drink for lunch in Moonee Ponds, or a quick midweek drink after work. Now there’s so much choice there’s no need. Is handy to pop a last minute races or brownlow bet on though, and the staff are friendly, so they’ll get an extra star for that.

Ventured in here for the first time after the Cox Plate, and boy was I surprised! The interior is ultra modern and oozes sophistication and elegant class. The magnificent, dangling sparkling chandeliers from one side of the lounge bar to the other are almost in complete contrast to the über stylistic décor in green stained glass. But it all works, and it works well. It puts you in a great mood right from the start. As it was after the Cox Plate the place got busy very quickly, but the staff handled the crowds brilliantly and a wait for drinks wasn’t too bad. And even though there was an awesome party atmosphere going on; there are many hidden nooks and crannies making for a more relaxed and chilled out ambiance. It’s quite a large venue and smack bang in the middle of Moonee Ponds — making it close to other entertaining venues and fine dining. The Junction Hotel offers patrons dining in the bistro, lounge, gaming and TAB and bar. Open every day til late and until 3am on weekends, it seemed to be the place to go after the Cox Plate and it was well worth stumbling on. I’ll definitely be back!
