Just been off to do a bit of banking in Midland when I came across this quaint little café called The Colony. I instantly Unilocaled it and found two reviews. Fellow Unilocalers do come to Midland. I’ve chosen the banana bread and coffee. Just a snack before lunch. Inside the place is styled on yesteryear colonial times. It’s filled with olden day nick nacks and relics from the colonial past. With Guildford just up the road I can understand why. Love it. Very pleasant place to have a bit of a relax and then take on the rest of the day. The GF banana bread is great and the coffee a rich taste, beautiful. Just the way I like it. Come on down I’m sure you will like it.

We had a couple of hours to kill on a Sunday morning and wandered across this place on the way to a more well known establishment. In glad we changed course! The coffee was better than your average suburban café and although the breakfast menu isn’t extensive it is sufficient and the food is excellent. Lovely ambience and friendly staff.

This beautiful bistro truly is a tranquil and inviting oasis. Although it has been established for several years I only ventured in there myself a few short months ago. Since then I have ventured back again, and again, and again… This cozy café creates a tranquil calm and allows you to collect your thoughts in a comfortable, cool and very welcoming environment. Think: terracotta flooring, high ceilings and spacious interior with simple yet stylish furnishings. A great place to be after a crowded and often times chaotic shopping experience. The staff are genuine and seem to enjoy what they do — always a bonus! The menu provides light café style meals such as quiches, croissants and muffins. Nothing is too fancy, elitist or over the top but all is well priced and definitely delectable. This blogger’s tip of the week is brekky on Sunday. Go for the cheese and tomato croissant plus the best vanilla latte I have ever found on my, admittedly less than extensive, coffee travels. The cost of the croissant will set you back only very marginally more than if you purchased the same sort of fare from any number of clichéd food chains. Not to mention names but did someone say Baker’s Delight? The place does get understandably busy during peak times and is usually dotted with a few cheery customers who keep the atmosphere alive throughout the day. This cheery customer gives the Colony Café experience ten out of ten and will probably make themselves part of the Colony Coffee landscape again this weekend.
