Description

Specialties

Shebeen is a non-profit café and bar offering takeaway and dine-in lunch, dinner and late night food. Kick back with a cocktail and engage in some tropical philanthropy.

History

Established in 2013.

100% of Shebeen’s profits are donated to the developing world, and every customer’s choice at the bar determines where profits will end up. Drinking an Ethiopian beer helps provide agricultural pumps to rural farmers in Ethiopia, and a glass of South African wine supports Room to Read’s work in South Africa.

Shebeen is Australia’s first non-profit café and bar. It’s been in the pipeline since 2007, and opened in February 2013. It’s the second non-profit bar in the world — the first opened in Washington DC in late 2012.
