The iconic tram bar outside the arts center in Melbourne. Unfortunately it’s due to be removed and a new bar will be built inside the existing café opposite the tram bar. It’s not that this café/bar does anything special but it is a nice place to sit and people watch while you enjoy a «not TOO bad» coffee as the city moves around you . The prices aren’t too bad and staff are always friendly and im guessing they’ll be moved to café Centro or back down stairs in wirths café(the staff canteen at the arts center) Either way, I’d suggest popping in for a coffee or a ham and cheese toastie before it’s too late. Hopefully they replace it with something just as interesting as an old«W class» tram otherwise, it’s just going to be another wasted city area that could and wouldbe, frequented by many.

The Tram Bar is in the Arts Precinct in between NGV and Hamer Hall, straight across from tram stop 14. It’s built inside a refurbished tram car, mounted on a brick platform. They serve beer, cider and wine thru the windows. Outdoor seating only, with heaters for the cool weather!
