Misty, somewhat of a Melbourne institution I’m told has been around since the 1990’s. I’ve been here a few times and I can definitely see why it’s lasted. This place is a cocktail bar and the staff certainly know their stuff. I’m a fan of Negronis and Old Fashioneds and I’m never disappointed with the ones on offer here. What I also like, is that they have a cocktail menu that gets changed up from time to time to keep things interesting. Cocktails are priced around the $ 20 mark, but are definitely worth it. The ambiance is good here; dark and relaxed and not too noisy. It’s a fairly small venue, but despite being on Hosier Lane it’s never too crowded. Definitely worth a look in if your in the area.

Super friendly service, not packed out on a Saturday evening, and a bloody delicious cocktail customised from a couple of cues from me. Berries, gin, perfectly balanced and not sickly-sweet. Cool comfy space, and excellent music at a level you can hold a conversation over. Awesome stuff.

What a cool bar. I really liked this place. Just chill, loungey, in a grafitti’d lane, with really friendly servers and reasonable prices. Reminded me of a lot of Fitzroy joints, glad I found another chill place in the CBD that I can pop into if in the area.

Oh Misty. One of the original laneway bars which fills my heart with nostalgia whilst I feast on pinot noir and wasabi peas. Perfect for an after-work drink.

The only reason this bar is getting 4 stars rather than 2 stars is because of a bartender who was absolutely in love with making cocktails. He was incredibly meticulous in preparing my cocktail that he prepared on the spot. I recommend looking at the homemade simple syrups(the bartender had made mine) and asking the bartender to prepare his/her favorite cocktail with the syrup that appeals to you. I’m not picky about liquor so I gave him free range on that as well. The syrup that appealed to me was the mint, ginger, and cucumber one. After creating it for 10 minutes, he turned it into the most delicious gin drink I’ve ever had. It was a $ 15 cocktail, so it was probably the most expensive one I’ve had. Unfortunately, the other bartender didn’t seem nearly as interested in mixology, so this strategy could be hit or miss. Otherwise, there are only 2 beers on tap at $ 9 each. One of them is Palm and I don’t remember the other.

A cute bar tucked away in the indomitable Hosier Lane. Make sure to try the mandarin brandy.

In our first venture down one of Melbourne’s well-regarded alley ways, we were directed to Misty, for cocktails. The issue with drinking in cocktails in Australia seems to be one of price. The liquor is taxed at a higher rate than beer and wine, I heard. So, although the mixologists behind the bar are making their own syrups and smoking things, most of the patrons are drinking bottled beers or simple«gin and tonics». Apart from the rich old guy, blond bombshell couple next to us, we were the only ones giving the bartender anything fun to do. I got a cocktail with a fig garnish and it was the perfect dessert cocktail. My husband had a gingery rum drink that was like the islands. d the vibe here devolved into beer drinking after work crowd late on a Friday night, but I would still recommend this place for anyone willing to pay for a real(interesting) drink.

Exceptional cocktails, great music, and chill vibe. I wish I found this place ages ago. Tucked down the graffiti alley of Hosier which makes the experience even more unique and fun. Wonderful.

What a fun time with the bartenders. We had a Don the Beachcomber Zombie and it was dangerously good. Super fruity and filled with plenty of rum. Don’t half step. Come here when you’re going down the graffiti alley.

Misty is so cool. It’s in a sweet hidden spot, and is perfect for two things in particular: –if you’re going to movida and the line is out the door –if you’re going to the forum and you want to get your drink on They’re expensive drinks here at Misty, but well worth it, as they’re creative and the atmosphere is great. It’s always a bit dark and lurky, but the shelves behind the bar remind me of the 70s crossed with a spaceship. Or maybe it’s what people in the 70s thought the future would look like in the year 2000. Haha.

The drinks here are amazing. They’re for the type of person who’s looking for something different. Something with a twist. Something original. And that’s just the type of drinks I love. On offer are things like the Pear of Flippin Monkeys — Monkey Shoulder blended Scotch Whisky, Poire William liqueur, honey syrup, lemon bitters, a touch of egg white, and to finish, a slice of fresh pear. It’s a drink that brings out the Oo-oo-ahh-ahh in everyone.

I’m surprised that Misty hasn’t been Unilocaled til the cows come home. You’d think that being a cool little bar on one of the coolest little lane ways in Melbourne would make it prime fodder for a brutal Unilocaling. Whether you are needing some pre game drinks before heading into Movida, you are checking out the graffiti on Hosiers Lane and need some light refreshment or simply if you just want to spend time in a cool bar, then Misty is a great discovery for you. With some good pilsners on tap, a large cocktail list, a dark sophisticated setting and some pretty talented bar staff, give it a whirl.

In the graffiti covered Hosier Lane, Misty is where I drink before and after my Movida experience. However, just because it’s next to an institution doesn’t mean it isn’t great in its own right. One of Melbourne’s original laneway bars, Misty focuses on making delicious cocktails with meticulous care and attention to detail. A small venue with minimal interiors — white walls and paper lightings that create a futuristic setting — Misty attracts the after work crowd of artists and designers. I’ve only had cocktails here, but I know they offer a selection of beers with Truman Pilsner on tap. Cocktails($ 17-$ 20) are divided into two sections — Misty’s Creations and Twists and Forgotten Classics. I was enjoying the strawberry, basil, and vodka smash, which is a perfect accompaniment to any spring day. If you’re feeling adventurous, have one of the talented and knowledgeable bartenders make you a ‘Freedom from Choice’. I requested a ‘Freedom from Choice’ with a twist — I said make me the best martini ever, gin-based. Was it the best? It was pretty damn close — a great mix of gin, vermouth, and olive juice.

Although Misty has a reasonable selection of beers, wines and spirits, this two room venue has great, soft vinyl couches and attracts a diverse range of clients, including students, artists and, after 5pm Friday, numerous young professionals. Yet apart from the furniture, interesting crowd and enthusiastic staff, Misty’s greatest asset is its bizarre lighting, for not only does the brightness of the bar change constantly, but so to does the color, the venue altering its shade at random intervals to all cover all spectrums of the prism. This said Misty suffers from the fact that there are many other bars surrounding it, including Robot, that are equally unique, with similar prices and a greater range of drinks.
