Dropped in after a day out in the CBD. This place is reminiscent to Chipotle in the USA, but a little tastier, and definitely more expensive. I enjoyed the grand melt(a stuffed burrito) with chicken and the works. It was flavorful, hot, crisp and filling. They have everything from tacos to nachos and salad bowls if you desire something else. I also had a classic margarita on the rocks, and it was everything. I am still slightly buzzed from the small but potent glass of goodness. 4 stars only because the seating area was dirty despite workers sitting around and chatting. I cleaned my own space and dined in anyway, and I may go back for another drink before I leave the area.

Tasteless bland Mexican food. Really what is to be expected from a fast food store at a train station. Have only eaten from here once and that was enough.

See previous issue senior head office reply ‘I have investigated complaint’ yet never mentioned points 2 and 3 re rude staff waving in condescending manner and saying ‘goodbye’ as only addressed music too loud! Big chains #spotless shame on reply gee do public know who is behind the store?

Always execute well. Delicious and well priced. Ingredients are fresh and tasty. The place looks clean and the staff are pleasant and friendly. It’s the only place I have a loyalty card for. Highly recommend.

Had the vegetarian naked burrito today. Really tasty for a very fast lunch. Just a little pricey for what it was at $ 9.90. Ok, if you are not paying it everyday. Was very tasty though and fresh so will go back there for sure.

Mexican here I come! Had a visit here for something a little different for lunch. I ordered a grande melt, and some tortilla chips. Line up at one end work your way through to the counter(subway ordering style). I ordered and the girls taking my order and putting things together were very robotic(as if they done this 10,000 times already) so it was quite rushed, and being first time there needed time to break down their very busy menu board. However proceeded to order. Made my way through the glass displays getting lots of stuff on this wrap. The guy on the cash register was really friendly and nice. The girls passed him my order and said a burrito & tortilla chips! I didn’t order a burrito, but somehow that’s what i ended up with, it all seemed abit rush so i didn’t bother changing it! However the burrito was very nice, very filling and reasonably priced. The tortilla chips with salsa, cheese and guacamole was very nice too. So a few mishaps in the service and ordering system. but was still quite nice and for something abit different i was impressed

The iconic Mexican wrestlers mask decals covering Mad Mex makes me wonder who would win in a foodie’s smack-down between Mad Mex and Salsas? Personally, I’d be cheering for Salsas… Someone with more knowledge of Mexican cuisine might be able to Unilocal one is Tex-Mex versus Cal(ifornian)-Mex versus what real Mexicans eat(is that called Mex-Mex??). Whatever style it is, I was satisfied with my open burrito, and given I had only 15 minutes to grab lunch between meetings, it has done me well and I feel pretty satisfied and would happily return.

I am a big fan of Mad Mex and am glad to see their arrival here. Of all the fast food venues in Southern Cross station, you can’t go wrong in terms of value and a decent meal. If you haven’t had them before, the small burritos are a decent size so if you have a small, grazing appetite like I do just grab the small. Don’t forget to grab a loyalty card — you’ll be back and they’re valid Melbourne-wide(possibly Australia-wide but I haven’t checked)

After experiencing the delights of soft tacos at Chipotle in Santa Monica a couple of years back I’ve been waiting for similar fair to arrive at our shores. Mad Mex aims to satisfy the trend towards healthy, tasty, fast food. I’ve sampled a variety of tasty fillings in both softshell taco and burrito forms. For a light lunch that doesn’t damage the wallet too much I order the single softshell taco with chicken and loads of salad for only $ 5.00. However if you have a hunger like a protester at a Nauru detention centre you’d better go for the full monty with Buritto, extra guacamole and drink. PS. if you’re into a little more spice don’t overlook the delicious Tapatio sauce available in take away satchels or at your table. Remember — Burritos are the next years Burger.
