Well, a never again visit experience, about to board a regional train and wanted a muffin for breakfast $ 3.95 via payWave well when I went to pay I was told $ 6 minimum for payWave then when I cancelled order a male assistant said ‘goodbye’ in a condescending manner! Look at other reviews re service I do believe they have an issue.

I had one of the worst customer service experiences here ever. I’m on vacation from the U.S. and was told to try the meat pies when I’m in Australia. I had some time to grab lunch before catching an airport bus and saw this place so I figured I’d knock meat pies off my list. When I walked in, I looked at the assortment of options behind a display window. I decided on a Chunky Steak pie and went to place an order. Looking at the menu shown above the cashier, it listed«Classic» for $ 4.95 and right below it it said«Mini» for $ 2.95, so I assumed«Classic» was referring to the size of the pie. I asked for a «Classic Chunky Steak» and the cashier asked me, «Do you want Classic or Chunky Steak?» Since I was confused by his response, I told him I’m visiting from the U.S.(should have been obvious from my accent) and to explain what the difference was. He said, «One is Classic and the other is Chunky Steak.» I told him I still didn’t understand since I’m not from here and he said with a dismissive, annoyed tone, «The classic is minced and the chunky is chunky.» I again asked him to clarify what’s in the classic since all he said was that it’s minced, not what type of meat, what other ingredients may be in it, etc. Again, he gave me a very unhelpful response. At this point I just wanted to get something so I could eat and catch my bus, so I ordered a classic. After my meal I was leaving and he said bye and I told him that I felt his tone was quite rude, especially when I’m clearly not familiar with the store or meat pies. He said, «I’m sorry. Will you forgive me?» but again, in more of a lip service tone instead of sounding genuinely sorry. This experience really sullied my experience in Melbourne, and while I had a fabulous time here otherwise, it’s unfortunate it had to end on such a sour note.

So tired of seeing these around. They are the plague. Seriously don’t buy food from these places. I have seen so many birds and bugs in their display cabinets. Not cool. The pies were actually great when they started but have since lowered in quality since over populating Melbourne. Sad!

A trip down under wouldn’t be complete without eating a meat pie! Piping hot filled with yummy goodness, there was a lot of meat pies to choose from. We came here for breakfast every morning since it was across from our hotel and haven’t gotten sick of it. I wish the US have something like this.

My trip to Melbourne wouldn’t have been complete with out a stop at Pie Face. HoT(not luke-warm) chunky pie goodness.

The ubiquitous savory pie chain(that unfortunately recalls an indelible story about an individual who had a fetish for the most obvious way to combine the two elements) is unlikely to ever be the first resort for a savvy diner. However, when it’s 7am on a Sunday and Melbourne is all but officially closed and there is a train to catch, it fills both a niche and a stomach. The spinach roll($ 3.95) was far superior to a Thai chicken curry pie($ 5.50) on a previous visit. The latter captured what I dislike about standard chicken pot pies but moreso — lack of flavor [has anyone here been to Thailand?] and significantly unhealthy to boot. I was only hoping for tolerable from the former but it surprised me — the goodness of greens and warm bread without being burrito-level heavy or causing my fingers to drip with grease afterward. Pie-Fi, as the advertising copy reads, one of the primary reasons I went inside, wasn’t working(could connect to the network but no Internet access) and I’m not sure if it was an isolated incident or a systemic problem. At any rate, I found another solution and was satisfied with the breakfast. After one’s obligatory tourist visit, one could do worse than return here in an early morning or late night pinch.
