The fries were awesome, the burgers too were good. Its a tiny place though but we were fortunate with our timing. Overall we were very happy customers.

I’d heard nothing but good things about Huxtaburger and, staying nearby on a trip home to Melbourne, decided to check this place out. Meh, at best. I had the Clair burger and was easily the worst chicken burger I’ve had in recent memory. Chicken was greasy and nothing like what you’d expect from a half-decent, crispy, fried chicken burger. I can see it working if the chicken was better — the coleslaw and jalapeño mayo definitely had potential to pull a nice combo together. My wife had the Huxtaburger which was a passable cheeseburger. Again, definitely edible but nothing to go nuts about. The place itself lacks ambience and the staff have mastered the tight-lipped-dead-eyes when you say, «Hi», which is always nice :/Charisma and friendliness never killed anyone, haircut. The chips were good and the chipotle chips great, so that’s a plus. I’m assuming it was an off night(that cost me $ 30+) so would check it out again at a push, but definitely underwhelming.

This place is the real deal. I used to flip burgers for a living so I am fussy. Had: Huxtaburger… Rating: 5 stars all the way baby! Expect perfectly cooked fresh ground beef, the sort of caramelised beef that only comes from leaving for long enough on the first side down! Add the freshest salad and kickass ketchup & mustard, and you have hit the burger jackpot. Congrats guys and girls at Huxtaburger :-)

The Huxtaburger itself was by far the best burger I’ve had, will need to revisit to try the rest of the menu

There’s no denying that the burgers here are good, but I wonder how good they really are if Huxta hasn’t opened in Sydney? Maybe the owners should consider doing so, you know, so Sydneysiders can have their say? Yeah, that’s a good idea. Huxtaburger, you should open in Sydney so we can see if your burgers live up to the hype.

Great chips! We went here for lunch, the burgers are cheap, filling and delicious. Not a large place so be aware if going with a group but definitely worth a visit.

Only 14 stools so very tiny. We popped in for baby Rudy burgers which were the perfect size for a small lunch when you know a full burger would be too much. Huxtaburger is delightfully moreish and I can see regular cravings happening in my future. A throwback to the 70s there is a small menu including crinkle cut chips and 8 burgers including beef, chicken and tofu. The beef is excellent quality. Will return ASAP.

The burger was good but I didn’t think it was really worth it for $ 9. I guess I’m used to tastier, cheaper burgers in NYC(shout out to Shake Shack!) I ordered the original Huxtaburger — beef topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato mayo, mustard, ketchup, and pickles. There wasn’t anything special about it. After I ate it, I wished I had gotten a different burger(preferably something with bacon?) I’m still glad that I tried it, since it had so many rave reviews on Unilocal.Even if I lived in Melbourne, I probably wouldn’t go back. I’m sure there would be better places to satisfy my burger cravings.

I love this place! It is a once in a while meal, but for a cheat day it is worth it! Gluten and dairy free options are excellent and the staff are brilliant! Bills burger is awesome.

I had a burger and chips. I really liked the chips. The burger wasn’t as well cooked as I prefer but was still pretty good. The staff were really polite and the service was reasonably fast. I’d recommend Mr Burger over Huxtaburger, but Huxtaburger is still a quality option if you’re craving burger.

Yum! Had to give this place a go whilst I was in town from Sydney as I had heard great word of mouth about it! I have to say I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest and actually suprised as I had friends that said it didn’t come close to 8bit which I disagree with. It was just as good! I preferred the crinkle cut fries here compared to the beer battered at 8bit. The shakes at 8bit were better but I’m not complaining the Huxta Shake was very decent! The décor was a little odd but cool and staff friendly. I like that you can get soft drink refills as well! I can’t wait to return when I am in Melb next!

Huxtaburger for me has a confused feel, a bit 1960s burger joint without the welcome and warmth. The seating is all window facing, with no vanity screen girls, so keep this in mind if wearing skirts. The view is a constant stream of foot traffic heading to a back alley, and a number of the seats were partitioned off somewhat like a voting booth. I don’t know about you, but I think that one of the best ways to decide what to order is by watching what arrives on a neighbouring table. I opted for the Clair Jnr burger, a moist chunk of chicken with some sweet coleslaw and a slather of mayo… tasty! I followed this with the chipotle chips, a divinely peppery organic ginger beer(or maybe that was just the after bite from the chipotle chips?) and of course, as we were in a burger joint, the mandatory shake… my choice, the salted caramel. The food was good and the staff were vibrant and friendly, but nothing in this joint says«come and hang for a while»… luckily for the burger lovers Huxtaburger has a takeaway menu!

I was looking forward to trying out the burgers here based on previous reviews but was a little disappointed. I wouldn’t say the huxtaburger was the best burger I’ve tried lately, but to be fair I’ve had some delicious ones recently. I really liked the chipotle fries though and the Coopers ale was refreshing. The selection of music is eclectic, from rap to instrumental jazz, a bit odd. Anyway I suppose one wouldn’t really linger here, the bar type stools are fixed & not comfy. They do have free WiFi so that’s a plus.

Hands down my favorite(Cosby Show themed) burger joint in Melbourne. From the aesthetically pleasing diner vibe to the menu of burgers & shakes that aims to please everyone, this place will have you smiling & coming back for more(and more). The staff are always super friendly & laid back, helpful in even the busiest of times(which is often). The milkshakes are a tasty must & the chipotle seasoned chips also can’t be missed. This place is always a stopover before hitting a music festival as they tend to play tracks by artists from the bill as I enjoy various burgers named after members of the Huxtable family. The only thing possibly missing? How about some of that famous Cosby Jell-O pudding.

Twelve kinds of yep. Delicious burgers(I had the traditional Huxta with a slab of tofu in place of meat… and it was absolutely perfect in its simplicity — my boyfriend had the Denise and loved every second of it), mouth-watering chipotle fries, cold craft beers, and super-friendly(and helpful!) staff. What more could you want in a burger joint? The décor is simple and completely unpretentious, the music was funky, and it’s hidden down a little alleyway. See, what’d I tell you? Twelve kinds of yep.

I have heard great word of mouth about this place. and finally found a good time to go and visit this place. Went around lunch time, and you can tell this place is a favorite because it was packed. We got to place our order pretty quickly, but had a fairly long wait before we received our meal. However the food finally came to our tables, and was fairly well priced. The burger was delicious, served on a very tasty bun, the meat paddy was also very nice. I really enjoyed this meal. it is also a licenced venue, so burger and a beer. Two great things.

If you are a fan of a greasy burger and/or Five Guys back in the US you will like Huxtaburger. I love the homage to The Cosby Show… and seeing that Theo was my favourite character I had to get the Theo. Two patties? Check. Bacon? Check. Cheese? Check. These burgers take a little time to come out for good reason… they’re made with care… greasy, artery clogging care. The meat was spiced really well… it had some great flavours and was really tender. The bun was greasy goodness as was the cheese. The only thing I would change if I were to order the Theo again(which I will) is hold the mustard and BBQ sauce. There are too many condiments going on with ketchup, mayo, mustard, and BBQ. but it’s otherwise a fantastic burger. God I hope they will open one up in Sydney.

It is just as good as the original! Exactly what you are searching for in a burger joint. I arrived back in Melbourne early afternoon with a contemplating in my head which café I was going to have lunch at. As I headed down Burke Street a thought popped into my head. Why was I trying to find a good lunch spot when there’s Huxtaburger? I had only been to the original before and I thought I’d try out II. Best choice. Amazing burger. A little greasy but it’s a burger. That’s what you want. My Theo was gone in about 3mins because I was so hungry. Best thing was that it filled me right up and I still satisfies now, hours later. What I love most about Huxtaburger is that they support the microbreweries. I’m all about craft beer and they’ve got an excellent selection of craft beers that impresses me a great deal. I sat down to my lunch with a Mountain Goat Steam Ale. Perfect for the meal. Loved it. Love it. Will love it again. Must visit!

A mighty fine burger. Big, juicy, lots of sauce. And I even ate the pickles. Real pickles! Who knew they could be tasty. Even their tomato sauce is delicious and thick. I avoid the business crowd but certainly an excellent option for a quick dinner after work.
