Grill’d

I’m a big fan of this Grill’d location. The staff are all friendly and the food is always delicious. I visit at least once a month.

Holy wow.
I’ve always enjoyed Grill’d, but the burger I had here yesterday was something else. It was the Summer Sunset. It was amazing. Get it. Get it now. It is delicious. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

I don’t know much about the history of the Grill’d chain, nor do I necessarily care — but I was told by a few people in town that they make a decent burger and we should give them a shot.
Until last night, we’d been twice, both times in Melbourne Central. The first was a mistake, and the second was an attempt at redemption for the chain/​location. Failure again.
We couldn’t finish the meal; not for lack of hunger, but it was just like eating newspaper with some colouring. We were NOT impressed. The chips were also horribly over flavoured.
So you are probably thinking: «Why would you ever go back?!» — and that’s a perfectly reasonable question. We know that with chains/​franchises as this likely is, even if the raw materials are the same from suppliers, the local staff can really make the difference, as well as the ambiance.
The new location for Grill’d on Lt. Bourke isn’t far from home for us, and being fans of the odd quick meal, we thought we’d give this location an opportunity to redeem the entire brand.
And it worked.
The place was quiet, nearly empty (Sunday evening, so, makes sense) — and to be fair, this is probably a lot of the problem of the Melbourne Central location; right next to the cinema gets a lot of high-​turnover traffic, so the place looks grotty for a reason.
Lt. Bourke was clean, staff was friendly, the meal delicious. No complaints, loved what we had and I am sure we will be back. Hopefully it won’t go downhill to match the Melbourne Central venue.
One complaint: Dear Australia, please stop making people pay for tiny bits of ketchup/​whatnot. $ 0.70 for a tiny splodge is silly.
