It’s okay, because it’s near transit. It’s also clean. But the location is central and convenient but not at all pretty. The nearby conveniences – grocery stores, trams, shops, restaurants, attractions – also come with cons for tourists – crowds at the corner in rush hour, drunks at night, less pleasant shops and bars, panhandlers. The street looks seedy – although it’s safe and central. Unless you are at a higher floor, the river view is blocked by a station. They have clearly put some effort into upgrading the design, but it’s now half corporate-half boutique industrial hybrid in both the room and the lobby. I would call this a 3 star hotel, but a good 3 star hotel. Not much closet space either. About six-eight hangers for 2 people.

My fiancé and I stayed here for 4 nights while exploring the city and it was perfect. Location is so close to a ton of amazing dining, shopping, and drinking. The room that we had was very small but we expected that. The staff is incredibly helpful, even getting us a cab to the airport at 4 am. My only complaint is the price, but we caught a deal on Expedia that made it worthwhile. Great location and experience.

Stayed for two nights. Room very small and was able to hear conversations by guests staying in rooms on either side of mine(room 708). Restaurant service was terrible. Waited 10 minutes for a piece of bread that I saw sitting on the pass waiting for someone to bring it to me. And to top it all off had an allergic reaction to the hotel shampoo. Never happened before.

Nice Hilton property with fantastic location. Easy walking distance from everything downtown. Clean rooms, good service but wow expensive breakfast. As a long time Hilton diamond member, this property had everything expected along with decent size rooms.

Well along with the choice of hotel suggested by a colleague. Very convenient if you are planning to be in the south part of the CBD, and going to be in Southbank quite a bit. Less than 10 minutes’ walk to the Crown, and tons of food options in the immediate vicinity.

I stayed at the DoubleTree on Flinders Street for five days while on business in Melbourne. First of all, I stay at Hilton Hotels quite frequently(rarely the Hilton, mostly DoubleTree), this hotel was by far one of the best. The quality, ambiance, decoration of the hotel itself was on par with many other hotels I’ve stayed in traveling for business. What separated this location, howveer, was the aggressively friendly staff. I had a few requests(I’m super high maintenance), i arrived at 10 am from a 30 hour flight and they worked to ensure I was able to get a room well before the 3pm check in time, their concierge worked with me to help locate some great places for nice dinners as well as quick grab-on-the-go breakfasts and never once had anything less than a smile on their face. Obviously I want to come back to Melbourne, and hopefully will get the chance, if/when I do– I’m staying here at the Doubletree on Fliners.

The happy and attentive staff at DoubleTree by Hilton will see to your every whim whilst your a guest in their fine establishment. The décor is stock-standard for an upper-end Hotel, but the Reception is definitely something else. It’s a little bit Art Deco, with other modern influences mixing with older styles. In other words, it’s fancy!!! Whilst your here, a pre-dinner cocktail is a must at Platform 270.
