We actually stumbled into this joint after a nite out drinking. We had fried chicken, pork belly, omelette and seafood pancake. I love the fried chicken, although there isn’t much of it, the omelette was light and fluffy, the pancake was crispy on the outside which I LOVE. Not a big fan of the pork belly though, it wasn’t that tasty! If you check into facebook, they would give you a bottle of soju between two people(two of you need to check in though). I would definitely come back to try their other dishes.

Well i can not put into words what a absolutely wonderful dining experience we just experienced, the waitress was extremely friendly and helpful and for someone who cant handle hot spices or chilly she arranged for the Korean Fried Chicken to have separate sauce as its a share plate and even had the chef make a non spicy sauce just for me. Everything was delicious and i highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to experience authentic korean food.

Yum! Yum! Yum! Every time I step into this fabulous restaurant I’m greeted with«I’ll speak to the chef to see what we can organise»(or something along those lines!) My challenging dietary needs sometimes send staff running but Anju takes it in their stride and always performs. Highly recommend the scallops and SOJU! Try it!

We ordered the«Feed Me» option at Anju and it included a jar of soju cocktail for the table. I couldn’t help but wonder if the soju cocktail is the same size no matter how many banquet u ordered as it said«$ 49pp and u get a 400ml soju cocktail for the table»… Hmmmm First up from the 8 course«feed me» menu at Anju was the corn. This is kinda like the Mexican Corn from Mamasita but obviously this is Korean styled, with a tiny dose of chilli, cheese, sesame seed and fennel/aniseedy flavour Next to share was the lotus chips. It was delicious with a tinge of citrusy flavour to keep it light. The grilled eggplant with mushroom on top was next. It was so yummy! The eggplant were grilled to perfection and the mushroom was full of unami! When we asked for the«feed me» option they mentioned that they were quite flexible and if there was something we really wanted to eat they will try to accommodate it. We asked for fried scallops instead of prawns but sadly they forgot and gave us prawns instead :(. I don’t eat prawns but I did have a little try and it taste good and the others loved it as well. I just wish they remembered I wanted scallops though! By now we are pretty full but of course we have to press on with all the delicious food to come! The soft shell crab sliders are good but wasn’t fantastic. I think it was because the batter wasn’t flavoured so it was quite bland when I was eating the crab legs that stuck out, but once u ate it with the bun and the sauce and everything it was fine. I really really like the KFC aka Korean Fried Chicken we got next. I think what differentiate this and the other KFCs was that they added nuts and seeds on top. The chicken was really tender and tasty. The Anju version of mother and son dish that is so popular in Japan’s dons: the mother being the chicken and the son being the egg dish. This dish is chillified in Anju and it has probably a bit too much kick for my friends– but I love it! Last but certainly not least is Anju’s pork belly. This is seriously a SLAB of pork belly served with a side of lettuce, kimchi and sauces. It was amazingly tender– the meat just falls apart by simply using the tongs provided. We were so full but you just gotta at least have a piece. The lettuce and kimchi does help cut the fattiness but we still almost rolled back home! My friends loved this place and is already planning to bring their friends and family here. As for me? I have already planned my next visit to Anju!

This was my second visit to Anju. My first, to have a drink at the bar with a friend, and this time for a meal with a small group of friends. I was so impressed by the service and atmosphere the first time that I was happy to return. I was not disappointed by the food, which was sensational. I ordered a very yummy eggplant and mushroom dish and also some sweet potato chips. Very very tasty. My friends ordered a variety of dishes, and everyone was very impressed with their meals. The reason I have only given 3 stars is that when it came time to leave, arranging to pay was a nightmare. We weren’t able to pay individually and were stunned to find that the charges on the menu did not include GST. Neither of these facts were highlighted on menu. It is not legal in Australia to display a price without including GST and we were quite annoyed to find this out as we struggled to calculate our share of the bill. As much as I loved the food, I will not be returning to this restaurant. There are too many sensational restaurant options in Melbourne that are not deceitful with their pricing.

Yum, Yum, Yum!!! You could easily sit here and eat and drink for hours on end. This modern Korean fusion is too delicious for words and in a cool and funky location. The prices are fair and the staff very friendly and helpful. The pork belly is a must as a share dish.

Ok so apart from smelling fabulous the staff here are super accommodating. Dining tonight with a friend with intolerances including onion, fructose, gluten, garlic. Staff were soo helpful. The food is Wow! Asian fusion style. My friend had sushimi modified and corn modified both were still Awesome. I had a croquette slider and a soft shell crab slider. Of course the bottle of deakin estate Shiraz didn’t hurt. It was fun sitting at the bar watching them prepare our meal while sipping our wine. This is the life! I will be back with friends soon. It’s across the road from RMIT uni. Plus it has laneway charm. Come see for your self. PS. After we’d finished what we’d order, while we were kicking back with our wine having a chat the very lovely chef slid another dish towards us to try on the house. It was from the new coming soon menu and was delish! Chicken balls. PPS you know it’s a classy restaurant when they have Aesop products in their well appointed restrooms. Impressed to the end x
