It’s hard to find and easy to miss — Joomak is a little basememt bar right next to RMIT. You might not know what you’re getting into as you walk down the stairs, but soon thumping kpop will reach your ears and you know that you’re there. Staff are extremely friendly and the atmosphere is great. Patron friendly booths and sections have been partitioned for more privacy. It’s easy to come in a bigger group to fill a booth out. Food wise, it’s great at first taste. We got sweet and sour pork, bbq chicken and the pork soup. They were good but as time went by you’d realise that everything is a bit too sweet and starchy. We also got soju — the famous Korean rice wine. Don’t splurge, whilst they are tasty, the sweetness of a bottle is enough to be shared amongst a group of 4. Overall, great staff and atmosphere and good food. Great for late night catchups with friends.

my favourite thing here is the flavoured soju and rice wines. i sound like an alcoholic right now but i can assure you i’m not and just enjoy the occasional drink. i usually come here for dinner with some girlfriends as one of our catch up places. it’s quiet hidden as it’s a basement restaurant and quiet dark. authentic korean food like; mandoo, kimchi pancakes, korean fried chicken, kimchi soup, bulgogi beef and the list just goes on. i’m in love with korean food. it’s such a comfort food when i travel so when i miss home food i try and find a korean restaurant. the staff is quiet friendly and the service is great
