I ordered the burger and loved it, especially the fluffy bun and succulent meat. The layout was small and cozy which I liked but you need to beware that you might end up eating your messy food at a window seat where people constantly walk by. I bought the loaded fries and it was very very spicey so if you’re someone who can’t tolerate spice make sure to tell them which ingredients you should disclude in your order. Overall it was a great experience and would definitely do it again!

amazing succulent burgers!!! I personally loved the rare patty, means the beef was juicy and complimented the super soft bun. Only mark down is that there was way too much tomato sauce /mustard in mine!

Atmosphere — this is where I think they could have done better. The theme of 8bit could have been more utilised and made the environment more fun. The seating is not good as it’s just the stools which are taken by people waiting for take away. Not good for groups or even couple. Quality of food — burger was good and partner had the hot dog. Both were good although not memorable. Also had the strawberry cheesecake shake and peanut butter shake and both were very good. No free tap water available which is a rarity but always a thumbs down. Value — average for area. Service — no issue.

In time this will hopefully improve to become a great place, but at the moment they need to do work on improving the visitor experience. The retro arcade décor is cute, but the lack of air-conditioning on hot days, the loud music and the staff who seem to not quite know how to take orders make it a not particularly pleasant place to visit. That’s a shame because the food is pretty good. The chips are better than most burger places with a lot of flavour and just the right amount of crunch. The burger was tasty but they also follow the annoying trend of slightly under-cooking them.

Has Melbourne reached peak burger yet?! Apparently not because 8-Bit just keeps expanding. While there are burger joints going up everywhere the team here have really gone all out on the theme and branding — this will be the most instagramable takeaway bag you will ever see! We love the fries and the burger options are slim but well made. One criticism is the sauces used which are all brought in and nothing to write home about. It would be nice to have a little more variety. Still excellent fast food. There is usually a little wait for food to come out but it’s worth it. You will struggle to find a table if you have a group of more than two people so better to come here solo, as a duo or get take away and enjoy the sights on Swanston st. Yum burgers!

I was never a fan of massive queues, and the few times I found myself in the vicinity of the Footscray store, that’s exactly what I was confronted with, so I had not tried an 8Bit burger until the CBD store opened. I didn’t go at peak time, so I didn’t have to wait long to get my burger. No mucking around this time, just the 8Bit with cheese, straight up. I have to say, it’s probably the best cheeseburger I have had in a long time. The bun wasn’t too heavy, the patty was flavoursome(wonder what cooking fat they use?) so all in all a tasty experience. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the exceptionally loud hip hop playing in store. It pretty much killed any chance of a conversation. Perhaps a subtle hint to get your burger and get out?

Go in for takeaway another patron asks my girlfriend to give up her seat because she’s dining in and we’re getting takeaway? 15 minutes later get the 8bit with cheese that is like a Big Mac with 3-inch thick tomato… Sorry guys I’ll stick with McDonald’s

Okay I guess. I’m not sure I like how my burger was medium rare. Some people may like that but I prefer not to risk food poisoning. I hope I don’t get sick. Otherwise the burger seemed fine.

Should be called 2-Bit burgers. Shocking service. Ordered 2 burgers and a shake but only received 1, luckily we hadn’t left the store. They then took the burger out of the bag and placed it on the counter as they couldn’t identify which one they had given us. The remaining burger was ordered without an ingredient due to an allergy issue. We saw they realised they had included the ingredient and opened the burger and used their fingers to scrape off the item and then bag it for us. We highlighted the issue and they said there were sure there was no ingredient remaining. Not wanting to cause a fuss we left only to find the allergy ingredient was covered over with sauce. I liked the old school Atari shop theme but that’s where the best part ended. Someone will either die or sue them. They have a great peanut shake. The boss needs to do some quality control.

I’ve been meaning to go to 8bit in Melbourne ever since I saw it pop up on IG almost two years ago or so… it just so happened they opened up a CBD location recently so you wouldn’t have to trek out to Footscray. BONUS!!! I already had 2 burgers over the weekend but this was 2 years coming so I forced myself to down a Double 8Bit with Cheese and it was glorious… medium rare patty with great sauce and cheese… and a bun that doesn’t overwhelms. Really affordable and really quick burgers with the fun gimmick to boot. Sides could use some work though, as the onion rings were battered like Little Mac in Punch Out! Just a little too much…

Probably the best quick burgers you would find be in the CBD. I had the mushroom burger and it was delicious Being fairly new to the CBD it is quite busy. I was surprised the staff don’t wear hair nets too. Worth a try
