We came for the tannat, an unusual high tannin grape(good with BBQ!), which is offered as pure varietal and combo with granache and shiraz. Lots of very affordable table wines on offer. Not overly complex but good deals all around. The lady who poured for us didn’t really have too much details on the wines but was engaging. We enjoyed the tasting experience more than the wines. Note: review and rating is for cellar-door *experience*

We were lured here by a sign on main road advertising $ 90/dozen red and whites … HELLO! I had been here many years ago for a Sunday Live concert presented by ABC Classic FM, so have very fond memories of drinking shiraz and listening to live classical music ;) The cellar door is your typical gorgeous stone building so common in this area, and we were greeted by friendly staff. The power went out pretty much as soon as entered(it wasn’t us!!), and the staff dealt with this in good humour ;) I was stunned by the amount of wines that can be bought by the dozen here for under $ 150 — WHAT??? What surprised me even more was that we were offered tastings of all of them, which we weren’t expecting. Apparently their ‘Gilded Lilly’ range are for export, and this is the surplus or cancelled orders — they are excellent quality, and worth far more than the asking price. We ended up purchasing a dozen 2010 Merlot, which was absolutely delicious! Their more well known range available in bottle shops is their Stock’s Hill range, which is also excellent(but more expensive). This place is a hidden gem — I will definitely be coming here again to stock up!
