Don’t get me wrong I love this restaurant and I’ve been going here for years! However! Last year many of the usual amazing staff who knew me quit and moved to a different sushi place at Kingsford because of the new management. This is when it all started to go downhill! The new staff is very quiet, inexperienced and in some cases rude and there is never enough staff for the number of customers! Anyway so today I went for dinner and I was shocked to find that the prices have increased! For example the chicken avocado nigri went from being $ 4 to $ 4.50 and so did all the deserts and the prices of the udon increased aswell. Now I will say that the new management has brought in new sushi rolls and nigri which are great however they greatly lifted these prices! My friend whom I was with pointed out that they lifted them to a waitress and she said«yeah, sorry». Anyway before all this we were hurried to a booth which was not properly cleaned and had so much rice and mess on the floor that I was slipping, the napkins and bowls for sauce were also not there and I had to wait a while to get the attention of a Waitress so i could Ask for the bowls, napkins and water. Another thing that occurred is that my fried ordered the kakiage udon however he received the chicken karaage udon and when he pointed this out to the waitress she said«yeh I told the chef but I don’t know this is the one he made». Anyway I don’t think I’ll be going as often as I was to sushi train now that prices have lifted and staff is clueless since there are other sushi bars.

It was ok. Didn’t have that authentic sushi taste. Some of the sushi had a lot of cream cheese which is maybe popular for Aussies

The franchised Sushi Trains are everywhere in Sydney, however, I do think that the standard changes from store to store. I have to give a mention to the Maroubra Sushi Train because I think it is one of the best around. They closed recently for renovations and they have come back with a vengeance. The modern décor is edgy and cool but it is the food that is the stand out. The produce is so fresh and plump and yummy! They must have a great chef because there is that extra flair going in to the dishes that is making this superior than the others. The agedashi is gorgeous, ordered fresh from the wait staff. I like to order some of the Aburi Sushi fresh as well, but here it doesn’t make a difference. Everything is prepared to perfection!
