A simple place on the corner of McKeon and Marine Parade, Maroubra. Real. Like the beach itself. Ocean blue walls, Wooden frame doors, paintings covering the walls(often of the surf), it feel almost like you’re in a cabin on a ship, except for the wide windows that really open the place up. It has a simple menu, between $ 10 — $ 15 is what yo can expect to spend for a simple dish — and theres all day breakfast. This is very, very important. Especially when you’re on the beach and you have surfies waking up at 2 Pm everyday. Most of all, I love the simplicity of this place. It doesn’t jazz up and pretend to be anything its not, its just simple, comfortable, unassuming, easy and reasonable. And popular too; there’s a healthy human traffic. But there’s space for everyone. There’s plenty of space to sit inside out of the wind. And there’s wifi! Now, I don’t know if its free, but I’d assume so?

Ok corner coffee shop. I always find the difference between the Marini and Barzura in Coogee embodies all the differences between the two beaches. While both tend to be packed, the Marini is much more laid back. Service can be abysmal at times. Don’t try the porridge, you’ll get cold express oats with half-frozen fruit yuck! There is also WIFI, which is awesome. You can get the password at the till. There are nicer cafes down McKeon street though.

Nice place in the centre of Maroubra Bay, right next to the Beach. Sit outside, enjoy good coffee and good Food at reasonable prices and watch the Surfers pass by, a perfect hangaround!
