A surprise contender for best cake store in Adelaide! Here I was thinking Cake it Away was a kind of crappy chain store; not so. I ordered a cake for a work colleague here on Tuesday on a last minute whim and it was one of the nicest cakes I’ve ever had. And my work people agreed!
I called last minute in the afternoon ordering a cake to be picked up the next morning and the guy was friendly and not at all fazed by the late notice. I ordered a ‘Hedgehog’ (a chocolate cheesecake with a biscuit base) and picked it up at 10am the next morning. And it was only twenty seven bucks for a glorious chocolate cheesecake, with a personal message written on it, and it tasted and looked like an expensive cake from one of the posh stores that I won’t name. And the service was way nicer and more efficient than the posh ones! New fan right here.

This is the only store of this franchise in the state and I think it’s a good thing we have one. It’s not the top shelf cake you’ll savour every mouthful of, but it’s still very nice, and perfect for the ‘shit I forgot to get a cake’ moments of life. They have an extensive range of sweet options, and a small range of savoury options. I like the baked cheesecake best, but there’s also pavs and pies and mudcakes galore. In a nutshell — better than you could cook probably!

I like to think I’m pretty good in the kitchen when it comes to cakes, and because of this I often get asked to make a cake for this day or for that event.
To be honest, half the time I cant be bothered. It times like these Cake it Away comes in so handy. I grab a mudcake, chuck a few strawberries on the top, and voila!
