The Salmon Baked Eggs immediately caught my eye. I’m a sucker for salmon and the combination of creamy baked eggs and fresh smoked salmon sounded divine. And I was right! The dish was light and tasty and was served with two thick cut slices of freshly baked sourdough. I’m not sure which of the two aspects of the dish I enjoyed more, but the bread was definitely up there! The baked eggs also featured fresh baby spinach and a large dollop of sour cream. Heavenly. The ramekin was sparkling clean by the time I finished my dish.

The French Club at uni chose this place, and after one too many stodgey onion soups at places we went to that were willing to cater a group I was very skeptical to say the least. But La Boussole was really lovely! Traditional french fare in a homey setting, and you can BYO for $ 5 per bottle which is quite reasonable. I got the vegetarian which was a potato, cheese and bacon bake, followed by the Crème Brulee which was delicious. The Beef bourguignon looked good too. Cute spot! Probably would be nice for a first date because it’s cute but not too fancy or intimidating.

I have been to La Boussole quite a few times since my last review, mainly for coffee and a pastry, and it has always been fantastic. Last night, we went to La Boussole with a group of mums from school. Entrees were share plates of breads and 2 types of dips(french onion, and — carrot, goats cheese, chives dip, which was amazing). And their new best seller, Snails, while I didn’t try one myself, all of the other mums did, and even if they haven’t tried them before and said they were really really nice. Mains I had stuffed chicken breast, with prosciutto and cheese, with potato gratin type thing and asparagus. It was cooked beautifully. I tasted the Duck Confit — and I’ve never liked duck but this was amazing. Dessert — I had the crème brûlée, hooly dooly, that was the best crème brûlée I’ve ever tasted. The new french chef is brilliant and is always coming up with new ideas and specials. Everyone has to come down to La Boussole to taste the amazing food.
