I used to buy almost all of my meat from the big supermarkets, but a friend of mine recently did a meat appreciation class — can you believe that?! He did, and he really enjoyed all the samples and snippets of information he learned, although I think the free flowing wine and beer had something to do with it. Anyway, don’t buy meat from the big supermarkets unless you want average quality across the board. This means working harder to find smaller butcher shops that don’t charge the earth and provide a good quality product you can trust. This little shop in Wynnum meets the criteria. I’ve been passing it for years until I discovered a few friends were going there and that the shop supplied meat to some of my favourite other placces to eat in the vicinty, so now I’m trying harder to shop local — the lamb is great.
