Lovely food, relaxing atmosphere and attentive staff. Try the green chicken curry or the pineapple fried rice. In fact there’s not a bad dish here and any of them can be made vegetarian if requested. Owner/kitchen staff very obliging. I’ve noticed they have made a recent update to their wine list with some great local wines and some New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs. Always playing Thai traditional music. Very friendly owner. My husband likes the black pepper beef and as I’m vegetarian I usually go for green curry vegetarian or Tom kha soup with veggies. You won’t be disappointed. Good value 2

Went here after Karate class with the dojo gang for someone’s leaving do and someone else’s(surprise) 40th. I can’t fault the company. At about 830pm it wasn’t super busy and once we all finally ordered the food came soon enough. Being quite late I went for something small — vegetarian tom kah. It was a lovely soup packed with flavour though not overly spicy. I bet the tom yam also would have been great and spicier. I was eyeing off a green mango salad which went with the baramundi special but unfortunately was told when I asked if it was vegetarian that it had fish sauce :(The rest of the vego options looked good too and were probably all vegan(except pad thai which they could probably do without the egg to make it vegan). There were about 6 – 7 options so hopefully I will get to try something else next time. The others seemed equally enthusiastic about their meals and there were pretty clean plates all round. Our Sensei ordered the vegetarian red curry and I got to try some of that also(he’d ordered it medium) — was spicy but not overly so and had lovely flavours. After we had finished they brought out the birthday cake with a candle and dimmed the lights. I don’t think they charged cakeage either. Hope I get to come back again soon.

By God there’s a whole lot of trinkets up in this eatery! This is probably the most cluttered and over-decorated restaurant in Adelaide, which only adds to it’s charm. I had the best Thai food here than I’ve had in years. It was so delicious I actually had to repeatedly say to my boyfriend, ‘how good is this? I mean how good is this?’ I had Phat Met Mamung, chicken with dry chilli, onions, broccoli mushrooms and cashew nuts, and the sauce was so sweet and amazing my mind was officially blown. My padre had Phed Ma Khan, deep fried duck with Tamarind sauce and stir fried bok choy, and while it was great, my mind wasn’t blown because I’m not a huge fan of munching on the little quack quacks. Wear sunglasses if you have sensitive retina’s because the gold in the place shines like the sun. If you happen to be hungry and loaded, you can have a nice meal and also purchase yourself a stone elephant, or a gigantic lion water feature for a few hundred bucks. If you just like good food, Baan Thai is your friend.
