Frankly, if you are a dog, this may well be the happiest place on earth. I meet my kids here regularly, who bring three dogs with them. The opportunities for bum sniffing and mad chasey are limitless. 15 year old Murray likes to try and get a bit of random dry humping in too, given the opportunity, I guess you have to forgive him, he’d be 76 if he were human. The variety of food on hand for dogs and humans is pretty good. Coffee for people is not bad, and the popularity of the«Pupachino» suggests it must be a bit of all right too.(God help me, this is also available in a lower fat variety for doggies on a diet, no, I am not even kidding you!) There are heaps of pupffins, liver lamb and steak treats, and they also sell balls and other dog toys. I am not a mad fan of the human food really, though the kids,(Vegan traitors) order the vegie burgers each time we visit, they can’t be all that bad I am guessing. The greasy ham and cheese croissant is pretty lame, and rather huge, so it makes a good thing to befriend random dogs with. There’s always a range of cup cakes on display, and they look nice enough, but you are not here for the food anyway. You are here to let your dog socialise, and are damn grateful that you can have a nice cup of coffee or three whilst you do that. The park is not completely fenced in, but it’s not near any roads, so pretty safe. Give it a go, take your pooch, and prepare to be surprised at how long you find yourself staying there. Sadly, I have to edit this review in the most unfortunate of ways. Several weeks ago, my kids had little firecracker Murray there. He was attacked and killed by a mastiff that had been rescued from dog fighting pits. This dog should never have been off a leash, or if he had been, should have been muzzled. This does not reflect on the café, of course, but is an important caution if you are thinking of visiting with small dogs. Vale, Murray, Vale.

I don’t know of any other off leash dog parks with café’s smack in the middle of them so I think this place is awesome. Most dog parks have a water bubbler and thats it if you want a drink. Here you can get decent coffee and a good range of café food. They also sell ‘pupfins’ which are muffins for your dog and also pupaccino’s. Its just a great place to sit and have a coffee while your dog socialises and meets all the other pooches. If you’re into bikes its also not a bad place to sit and watch all the riders going to and from the bay run cruise past.

21/04/2014 Café Bones –Leichhardt The worst customer service I have ever experienced! After having a coffee with my boyfriend I thought Id return the cups back to the counter so they won’t have to pick it up themselves, one of the staff said thank you to me, I then whispered -«no worries» while I was walking back to our table I heard the other staff member behind the coffee machine(who made our coffee) asked the previous staff member if I did replied back or if I said «You’re welcome» the same lady who made the coffee behind the counter screamed so loud just to get my attention saying. «Most people who have manners would say you’re welcome back!!» I then turned around to give her my full attention! Looking at other peoples recent comments– it seem to be the same staff member who has been working there for sometime now. Well she definitely have a low self-esteem, hates her job and mostly herself, she obviously could not work elsewhere because of her lack of customer service skills and poor manners! I would definitely tell everyone I know not to go there. There is no excuse for bad manners anywhere!!! *** Karma will hit you in the face!!***

Just when you thought the Bay Run couldn’t get any better, half way along, if you walk just a little bit off the track, you’ll find this place. This is a flurfy puppy’s oasis. Image: you’re walking through the desert, you haven’t had a drink in 149 days, your beard is itchy(yes ladies, there’s no waxing salons in this desert) and your feet are tired. Then, on the horizon, you see a tropical rainforest paradise with fresh, spring water, naked people everywhere and vines to swing from. This is how your dogs feels when he’s approaching Café Bones. Fetch your best mate a puppaccino and let him play with the other dogs while you sip on your coffee by the canal, overlooking Haberfield Dog Park. They don’t accept card so make sure you’re cashed up and don’t expect brilliant things to set your taste buds on a dancing extravaganza, this place is puppy focused. The dogs are friendly, the owners understand dogs aren’t perfect and there’s plenty of keep everyone amused. There’s no better way to make it up to your best furry mate after you’ve left him at home all week.

Great ideas are as rare as a post-match football interview free of awful cliches(«It was a game of two halves», «The boys gave 100%», «I’m really proud of the effort the boys put in» and«I’m looking forward to hitting the showers with the boys» being some of my personal favourites). The dudes that own this place are true visionaries in every sense of the word. They saw a park on a canal. They saw dogs aplenty in the park. Lightning struck. «Those dogs need coffee!» they thought to themselves. And thus was born Café Bones, Sydney’s premier dog café. You get cake and your ball-licking little friends can slurp up a pupaccino, which is basically a fat-free bowl of protein-y goodness for your pooch. The recipe is a closely guarded secret, but I’m assured its super healthy and amazing for your dog’s coat. Yours too if you accidentally spill some on you. This place just straight up rules. Come on the 2nd Sunday of every month when it’s pug day. Fifty pugs running around happily licking the air and fossicking around and snorting like piglets is unadulterated sunshine for the soul.
