«Have you made your coffee yet?» my friend asked me over the phone. «Not yet, about to.» I responded. «Stop. I’m taking you to Paper Cup.» And so it was that I was invited along to Paper Cup to get my morning coffee. A small café up in Lilyfield, tucked away behind the bus stop island on Balmain Road. I never even knew it existed. This elusive café, however, has a wide range of regulars, according to mu friend, regulars who are prepared to walk an extra two blocks just to drink from Paper Cups paper cups. We walk into the wooden café, who is a regular himself, starts up a conversation with the people behind the counter, he orders the coffees and we take a seat while we wait. The interiors are sparse and todays paper lies across the table, I peruse it. The smell of coffee beans permeate the air. The coffee is good and we head off saying our goodbyes. Paper Cups strikes me as a quaint little coffee shop, with it’s minimalist branding and honest appearance. The coffee’s are tasty but small and of standard price. The location is a welcome escape from the busy coffee shops of Norton Street.
