Leederville Railway Station

Leederville Train Station is infamous for its long, winding bridge. The curved contours of the bridge makes it friendly for cyclers and wheelchair users to head to the train station, without having to face a steep upwards climb. For everyone else, the bridge can do one of several things — it can strike fear into those with a phobia of heights and it can make the morbid among us wonder why the bridge isn’t a suicide hotspot.
The station itself has limited seating, which is curious considering the heavy amount of traffic the station receives. There is still ample room on the platform for more seats, so more seating doesn’t seem like a onerous task.

The Leederville Train station is a tiny one platform station sitting in the middle of the freeway. There is a huge walkway bridge that goes over the freeway on each side. If you are afraid of heights this is not the train station for you. Unlike some of the other stations on this line, there is no ticket machines at the top. You can tell the people who do not come here often, as they are the ones that stand at the top of the stairs trying to figure out where they are meant to buy tickets. There is no facilities here, if you need to use a bathroom, you need to take a walk into Leederville itself.

If you’re planning on a lunching about in Leederville, train is by far the best mode of transport. Accessible via a winding overpass just above the Mitchell Freeway, Leederville Railway Station is located smack bang in front of Oxford Street’s best cafes, boutiques, Luna Leederville, Niche Bar and Double Lucky. Trains come quite regularly, and you can even while away your short waiting time with a newspaper from the vending machine.
