It’s sad to say but the owner of this place is an absolute dickh3ad. He is so rude and inconsiderate. Customer service from him is abrupt! Otherwise the food is quite nice, we have stopped going to this place sheerly because of the current owner . The story goes, two family members brother and sister came to Hugo’s for something to eat. The sister order food and the brother sits next to his sister to simply enjoy her company. Hugo the inconsiderate guy verbally forced the brother to leave because he simply didn’t order any food. The sister had to sit there embarrassed whilst she had her food. What a dick! That’s why we will not go there any longer!!!

Went here with some friends recently. They got the hugo burger and were not impressed. I tried the veggie burger which was surprisingly very nice. It had walnuts in it — definitely a first. The seasoned fries here were good too. The portion size was pretty big.

Admittedly I’m not much of a beach person despite being a full blown born and bred Gold Coaster. And therefore finding myself scouring the streets of Nobby’s Beach for something decent to eat for dinner was one of those«and pigs might fly» moments. And then there it was: Hugo’s Burger Lounge. Burgers, it seemed, was what I didn’t know I was craving for… have you ever been to a «burger lounge» before? Well I hadn’t, which was part of the appeal. I «had to» try. No doubt it’s a common theme amongst the reviews that Hugo’s is perhaps one of the most hidden gems on the Gold Coast as far as burger places go. Sure, you could head to Grill’d or Stacked(or even Maccas) for your burger fix, but I doubt any of those can taste this good. The burgers at Hugo’s are of excellent quality, with an epic taste, and the price? Amazingly reasonable and in fact a bargain for what you get. I ordered the Hugo Burger which had a massive juicy beef patty, fresh veggies and encased in Turkish bread(or something like Turkish bread) which gives it the gourmet feel. The healthy lamb burger was just as spectacular as well. And definitely don’t miss trying the Hugo Chips. Every piece was adequately crunch and covered is some kind of tasty seasoning which is so addictive. The shop itself isn’t much to look at, but it’s clear that it is well maintained and clean. It lacks the typical oily feel and smell of a typical burger shop along the beach and actually feels appealing and inviting. This is the burger place to be and well worth the trip(it isn’t quite central Gold Coast…). If you ever find yourself wandering aimlessly around Nobby’s Beach for food, ensure you drop by this place, you won’t regret it!

Hugo Burger Lounge is a little gem, it’s a wonderful hot spot loved by locals that you’d never know about unless one of those said locals felt generous enough to share the secret or you stumbled upon it yourself while at Nobby Beach. Not being a local myself, I have been hearing about Hugo’s for ages and how«they have the greatest burgers» and I «have to try their burgers!» We’ll, my friends today I had that very grand honour of finally tasting one of these famous burgers and let me tell you, my hysterical friends were not exaggerating! First thing I noticed when we walked in, which is often a sign that the restauranteur has a desire to be almost«gourmet,» was the Coke bottles are glass. We ordered the The Chicken Burger and The Pesto Chicken(both $ 13.90 each) we were warned about the size of these burgers by friends and how we would have to share but we persevered and order individual servings nonetheless, because why the hell not? We ordered the regular sized Hugo chips($ 5.00) to accompany our burgers, the bowl was brought out approximately five minutes later. To the hungry mind, the serving of chips doesn’t quite look big enough, but lucky they were hot and we couldn’t scoff them down as originally intended otherwise we would have had zero chance of finishing our burgers. The chips were coated in a combination of herbs and spices that quite frankly I couldn’t identify all of them and that’s one of my party tricks! But, lots of sweet red paprika, black pepper and salt lavished all over these perfectly crisp chips that were fluffy on the inside. Freakin’ amazing, don’t worry we paced ourselves. The burgers took about 10 – 15 minutes to come out, which was fine, the staff and service are incredibly friendly. You don’t even need to taste the burger to just know its going to be delicious. I didn’t get a taste of the Pesto Chicken, because my husband basically inhaled it, but the Chicken Burger– deary me! The bread was untoasted Turkish Pide, which as we all know can be a real devotcka if it is even remotely stale, well no problem because oh wow this bread was great! I haven’t had Pide this good since I left Melbourne and my mum used to make it herself. Bad bread, can ruin a potentially great burger so I am happy they have put the effort in! The lettuce & tomato was gorgeous, aioli tasted the way aioli should taste, they used real cheese(tasted almost like Jaarlsberg, but my palette for cheese is not great so I won’t commit to that), there wasn’t a tiny bit of fat in either the chicken or the bacon and the FREERANGE chicken breast was not only cooked perfectly but it was extremely succulent and actually oozing flavour! I can’t sing enough praises about the quality of food in this place, I am so impressed, I would have to say it was the best chicken burger I have ever had in my life and I’m sorry I have to leave the Gold Coast because it means not having access to this burger joint whenever I desire! Brisbane needs a Hugo burger Lounge! My only qualm with Hugo’s is the lack of EFTPOS, I realise there is an ATM across the road, but I am a firm supporter of plastic. Décor is almost non existent, this is purely a place to eat, but it certainly has its charm. The staff are very warm and inviting and it’s located walking distance from the beach, I am positive locals love hitting them up for dinner after a swim in Summer. Go try these burgers!
