Percy’s Aeroplane is named after a World War II pilot(the pilot also live in Kew) and it is owned by Wesley Lim. Lim found an antique model plane with striking and vibrant yellow to match the Ferrari yellow FB70 La Morzocco 2 Group Head machine. The model plane now becomes an icon of Percy’s Aeroplane. The café have two main dining area; the front room is slightly smaller best fitted for 2−4pp and the back room whch also leads to a courtyard area for larger groups. There was a rustic vibe decorated with random ornaments scattered around the café. The courtyard would be nice on summer.

Cute little café in Kew right near the busy junction. While the sound-track is provided courtesy of pretty constant car-horns, Percy’s still manages to establish a nice relaxed atmosphere of a more out-of-the-way café. We were there for breakfast/brunch and were all very happy with our orders. Food was ‘plated up’ handsomely and perfectly portioned(for me — some may find it on the small side compared to other places). Service was excellent — attentive but not annoyingly in your face. We stayed for about an hour after finishing our meal chatting and had our waters topped up without a word of pressure to keep ordering. Will be back soon to try the lunch menu.

Just came here for a coffee, so can’t speak for the food. Coffee was great, but the service was exceptional. Like«best table service I have had in melbs» exceptional. Reminded me of the USA where people are motivated by tips — but minus the tips(we gave one anyway). Go there!

Nice little place with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. The coffee was good and I enjoyed their pot pie.

Another addition to the great places to hang in Kew! And this one does a wonderful coffee! Not long opened and looking good! Gorgeous décor and love the big bright yellow aeroplane — Percy’s probably! And the matching yellow coffee machine! The menu is a good mix of easy going dishes for lunch, flat breads filled with lamb and feta and chicken and stuffing, big boy homemade sausage rolls, salads and sandwiches… but we cannot go paste Percy’s special pot pie!.. read more at my blog

Percy’s presents with all the typical calling cards of a new Melbourne café without the pretentious attitude that often accompanies such establishments. In fact the atmosphere directly reflects the very laid back, gentle nature of its owners, and customers quickly become guests. This feeling is only enhanced by the fact that Percy’s has repurposed an old home, with seating extending onto a courtyard and back room. Sadly I missed the breakfast boat by about an hour, and although I feel that by now all Melbourne cafes should offer all-day breakfasts I forgave them. The owner intends on extending breakfast onto weekends once they get a full-time chef. So I was forced to eat my least favourite meal — lunch. It only happens about once a year, and it’s generally my most dreaded annual eating occasion. Fortunately the ‘well rested’ lamb flatbread I ordered was absolutely delicious, so maybe I beat the system and I’ll get through 2011 without having to eat lunch. As it is now, Percy’s is an incomplete café experience but it has an absolute heap of potential. They’re still working themselves out, but when they do it’s going to be Kew’s number one eating destination. Take that, St Katherine’s.
