The Joondalup branch of Jesters is a small, but busy shopfront in the middle of the old part of the shopping centre. The staff at Jesters look fresh-faced, sometimes as though they were extras from Oliver Twist, but they are efficient with service. There seems to be a good rotation of pies, so none of the pies have the horrid«warmed for 8 hours» sensation that characterise many petrol station pies. Jesters is a good place for a quick and cheap lunch. The filling in their pies belie their cost — only Jesters can stuff a pie with bacon, egg and cheese and give you change for $ 5.

I enjoy a good pie, but since turning vegetarian a year and a half ago, I find it hard to find a decent veggie pie. They only sell one vegetarian pie here, other than the sweet pies. It is spinach and feta, it is nice, but really I just want a vegetable pie but that just isn’t an option. Considering the large range of different meat pies I am slightly surprised. The sweet pies are pretty delicious, they do this berry one and it is like happiness in my mouth!
