When I first moved to Perth I was dreading going about getting my WA Proof of Age card, because my previous experiences with government driver services centres was less than positive to say the least. But the time came when I could no longer put it off — it was too risky after some near misses with losing my passport on nights out. So I hopped on the train and made my way out to the Driver and Vehicle Services Centre in Joondalup, and was pleasantly surprised! The place is incredibly well run — there’s a service desk right inside the door where you take a ticket with a number on it and you can ask questions there too if you’re a bit lost. The helpful and friendly(I couldn’t believe that fact) lady at the desk pointed me to the back wall where they have pigeon holes containing any forms you would have to fill out. I took my Proof of Age card form and took one of the many empty seats in spacious, clean and well aired room and waited for my number to be called. It didn’t take long — about 10 – 15 minutes — and I was up. The lady behind the desk there was also helpful and we chatted while she filled in my details. She then took me to the side and took my picture for the card and off I went on my jolly way. Truly a hassle-free experience.
