The only non-byo solution for food without leaving Queen’s Park, the Café/Kiosk structure is a wonderful revamp of the kiosk that stood across the street for more than a decade. This new structure provides a rustic vibe perfectly at home in the park and with disabled/pram access it’s a wonderful example of modern ipswich architecture. The food and service on the other hand are another story altogether, despite being an independent commercial enterprise don’t expect the kind of service or quality food you would from any other sit down café‘. The prices are high and the staff have more in common with tuckshop ladies of old than restaurateurs. Food is dry and uninspiring, with much of it purchased pre made; yet despite this expect to wait 10 – 45 minutes for your food. If you are caught out without food or really don’t want to bring your own this is a reasonable solution, but if you can even remember to stop off at the coles 2 minutes down the road on your way to the park, bring your own and have a BBQ on the ample council facilities provided.

This is a nice spot in the Botanic Gardens in Ipswich with the feel of a rain forest retreat. It was busy when we were there for Saturday brunch where we ordered a round of scone and coffee for all. The scones were ok, but not what I was expecting, I was hoping for a big chunky scone like Grandma used to make with fresh cream and jam. The cream used was straight out of a can which just lacks something authentic. The staff were friendly, once noticed I was drinking a softdrink from the bottle and I was proactively offered a glass of ice — great service! I’d probably go for a 3 ½ star if that was an option. Might go back and try a lunch one day.

Very nice atmosphere, dining on the large deck overlooking Queens Park. The food is a bit slow and a little expensive, but it’s good. We especially enjoyed their«special pudding», it was delicious!
