We had the opportunity to go out for a family dinner recently and couldn’t decide where to go. The weather was foul and we really didn’t feel like going far from home so we decided to try Thyme Square. We started with some herb and garlic breads and shared some Salt and Pepper calamari and Grilled Haloumi with Scallops as our entrées. The calamari was lovely and crispy and the Haloumi deliciously squeaky and the scallops tasty. The mains were generous in size. I had the fish of the day, a Salmon fillet served surg a creamy mash and tomato relish that was very tasty. Our daughter had the Boerewors sausage and mash and enjoyed it although she said it was a bit too salty. Husband had the New Zealand Lamb which he loved and our son had the Thyme Square linguini with prawns. It’s an olive oil sauce and he did find that a bit too oily for his taste. For desserts we had the Crème Brulee, the Chocolate Molten Lava cake and the Apple and Rhubarb Crumble, which were all delicious. The adults had alcoholic drinks as it’s licensed. It’s under comparatively new management and the manager(who was also working on tables) cake to check that we were happy with everything. We were very happy with our dinner, no one left hungry and the café has a nice ambience. We’d be happy to eat there again.

Went here after hearing it was under new management. The place is great and the food excellent. They have 3 menus, one for breakfast, one for lunch and one for dinner. You can have the breakfast menu at lunch time but you have to ask and it was no problem as I wanted eggs. My wife had a tasty salad and she loved it. Coffee here is much better than it was before too.

I like this little place a lot. The staff are friendly and the tea, coffee and food are always what they should be for a satisfying experience. Here’s why: * Tea and coffee — I’ve never been disappointed yet. And I drink a lot of both, especially green tea. One cool thing about Thyme Square is that they present the tea in a beautiful little glass pot infuser, no scrappy, daggy teabag hanging out of a $ 2.00 special tin pot here. This type of presentation just invites you to enjoy it. The coffee is always the right temperature for me, always good and they serve things promptly. * Service — always friendly and attentive. Exactly what good service should be. * Food and value — very reasonable. The meals and snacks I’ve had here were fresh, nicely presented and always prepared just right. The portions are generous and I always feel I’ve had my money’s worth after visiting. Thyme Square Café is a rare thing in a main shopping centre: out-of-the-way location but easy to find, quiet and clean.

Thyme Square is my café de choix after visiting the Fitness First gym. The coffee is excellent and there is a range of apparently hand-baked cookies and so on to go with them. But there’s more: The lunch menu includes a great chicken Caesar salad and some terrific pizza options. They also have a liquor license, so it’s a good choice for a pre-cinema dinner, too. Thyme Square does not have the position of Blu Water Grill, but it’s a better place and cheaper with it.

When I need to suggest a café to anyone coming to Hornsby, this is easily my default. While most of the other cafes seem to be reliant on the mass produced, generic coffee, these guys have always been one step ahead. Back in the days before Toby’s Estate became more mainstream, these guys had it as their go-to bean. Now that Toby’s is more focused on mass production, Thyme Square has switched to Jack and the Bean coffee(another great option). As you know, having a good supply of coffee beans is only the first step in the production of an awesome cup of coffee, but I am happy to say that this café does a very decent job banging out cup after cup of great coffee. It must be mentioned that this café is also focused on having a wide range of food options [breakfast/lunch/dinner](which are a tad pricey but compared to other options in Hornsby, might be worth it). As it has been a while since I have eaten here I will leave it to others to tell you what they think. When I was eating here though the standard was quite high.
