The pub grub market in Hobart is a competitive beast. Tried the H&A on a quiet Wednesday night whilst on a work trip to Taswegia. Great ambience with a fire burning and some excellent live music. Ate the 300g porterhouse with garlic scallops, chips and salad. Steak was perfectly cooked to a medium and the chips/salad much better than the standard. The garlic scallops, served in a pouring dish, went perfectly over the steak. $ 33 for the steak and $ 6 for the garlic scallops might seem like a bit but the quality made the expense well worthwhile. I understand this place has only reopened in the last few years. Whatever the new management is doing, keep doing. Australia’s oldest pub serves great grub.
