Let’s settle down here: Chrome isn’t somewhere I’d send any visiting foodies. It’s not going to blow anyone’s mind, there’s nothing very inventive about the menu and the interior feels very diner. But here’s where I have to give Chrome credit: for a little corner store café, they do what they do well. And the other day when friends suggested the venue and I was too hungover to dispute it, I was quite honestly saved by Chrome’s BEAT(bacon, egg, avocado and tomato) sandwich. This is definitely the right café to bring your mum or grandma to, and it’ll charm their socks off(except serving English breakfast tea with a little Japanese cup might confuse them a bit). Side note: don’t come around regular lunch break(or around the 3pm mark either, I’m guessing) or the inundation of teens from the college directly across the road may drive you batty. They flooded in just as we were finishing up our brunch and the small space suddenly got very, very noisy. Another side note: hot chocolate with bonus flavours in it(I had coconut) is totally fun but calling it Italian Hot Chocolate makes me think I’m gonna get the stuff I need to use a spoon to drink(/eat). Don’t do this to a hungover person.

We just stumbled upon this café on a drive-by. The inside is quaint and fresh. The young man at the counter was very welcoming and attentive. We placed an order, and sat outside on the patio. The coffees were prompt and delicious. Our food came out, and it was beautiful. We just shared a steak sandwich and wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce. Everything was fresh and crisp. The wedges were unreal. I have been away from Australia for a few years, but the wedges reminded me of what I was missing. The young man knew we were visiting the area, and he gave us some tourist suggestions, which was much appreciated. Thoroughly recommend this café!
