Fun Fair

Hillarys’ wouldn’t be the vibing place it is without the contribution of «Fun Fair» in its’ grasp.
I love the idea of a fair, not so much the carni folk (they generally give me the creeps and their forced Irish accents make me angry) but the holiday, party feeling is beautiful.
Even though this fair isn’t a travelling attraction and I know that there is no urgency to go for a ride, I like to consistency and stability of it. Whenever I’m at breakwaters or walking down the beach here just seeing the rides makes me happy.. . thinking: «someone’s going to be packing themselves!»
I passed by today, while the fair lay in waiting, a couple of the ride operators were just warming up to the day, getting the rides ready to roll– wearing bright red shirts it’s crazy that they almost camouflaged in.
There is so much colour for such a relatively confined space. They’ve got a few different rides that cover the basics– up and down, around super fast, they don’t have bumper cars (but they’ve all become one way minimal impact events anyway so three cheers for an injection of adrenaline at Fun Fair!

Hillarys as a child was always a great place to go. Now the fun fair in the summer used to be great. Once you have to start paying for it, it stops being so good. $ 10 for a ride on a not to thrilling ride. Even the little games that you can win teddies at are a rip off. For a small kids attraction the prices are stupidly high.
It is fun though, and I have a lot of good memories. It is a nice addition to Hillarys in the summer, gives it a British sea side feel.

Throughout the summer period, Hillary’s marina provides a thrilling fun fair which consists of games like the clowns, rides such as the rampage and heaps more fun filled activities for all ages. Throughout the day and night this fun fair is a great environment where parents can sit back on the grass and have a picnic while the kids go ahead and play or grab an ice cream at the marina and head over to win a few prises. The fun fair is a local mini amusement park that gives Hillary’s marina a fabulous atmosphere and more reason to enjoy the lovely bay.
