First time diners we were welcomed with smiles, mood lighting and tasteful japanese décor. Got seated at our table for 4 and started on our 4 bottles of byo wine. I ordered the 4 course meal starting with salmon sashimi with salmon roe(sprinkled with truffle i think and a few drops of sauces) which was absolutely amazing. Second dish was angel hair pasta with soft shell crab which was mouth watering just to look at but tasted even better. The texture was amazing with caviar/salmon roe added for extra pop and crunch. The main dish was medium rare steak with beef cheek. Beef cheek was soft and melt in your mouth but the only down side was the steak had a slightly off smell to it. Wasn’t bad enough to return to the kitchen but was bad enough to have second thoughts about eating it or not. Ate it anyway and no stomach ache so that was a bonus. Dessert was sorbet with popcorn and nuts which was excellent. Great end to the night.

I dined at Nine Fine Food recently with a group of five friends; a first time experience for me but not for a few of my friends who had selected their courses before we even got there. Nine Fine Food offers different set menus depending on the number of courses you want. We chose the Osusume menu with four courses, which gave us a feast of exquisite food for the not-so princely sum of $ 69. We opted for sashimi for the first course. This platter of fresh seafood was beautifully plated, and featured salmon and tuna as well as melt-in-your-mouth soft octopus pieces in a creamy sauce. You can elect to have all salmon and tuna sashimi for an extra $ 2, though I doubt you’d want to forego the octopus once you’ve tried it. The next course featured Nine Fine Food’s signature dish of caviar pasta. This Japanese-meets-Italian dish of angel hair pasta in a creamy rice wine sauce with mushrooms and Tobico caviar, was exquisite and unlike anything else I’ve eaten. The taste sensations of creaminess and saltiness combined with the soft texture of the pasta and the juicy crunchy pop of the caviar, was a revelation. The main course featured non-typical Japanese dishes, but cooked and presented in the inimitable Japanese style. My duck leg confit had been slow cooked to succulent perfection, and finished with wickedly crispy skin. Duck jus and silky mashed potato complemented the meltingly tender duck meat, while two lightly seared scallops dotted with caviar added to the sense of east-meets-west. A drift of pumpkin purée topped with a smatter of delicate little vegetables and fruit pieces, completed this superb dish. As much as I was tempted by the matcha brûlée, my stomach told me I should finish on a lighter note. And so I ordered the blood orange sorbet and coconut gelato; the superb fruitiness of the sorbet was the ideal foil for the creaminess of the coconut gelato. A dusting of crushed nuts and popcorn provided a textural contrast. A pleasingly light end to a meal that was deceptively substantial. Small wonder that we had a four week wait to book into Nine Fine Food on a Saturday night. I’m always amazed when restaurants of this ilk offer the BYO option, which means you can enjoy a fine dining experience without the premium wine prices. We loved that the meal was spread out and we weren’t rushed, or kept waiting too long between courses. The service was pleasant, efficient and unobtrusive. Surprisingly the noise level was high; given the soft furnishings this is unusual, but it is a small space and this tends to be the norm these days. The food was exquisite though really we could all have done with one less course. Which course would you leave out though? In the words of Steve Tyler, «I don’t want to miss a thing». Certainly not at Nine Fine Food.

Went here for dinner on a Tuesday, we had the 5 course set menu. Each dish we had was lovely. Good quality produce and very fresh. The serving size was reasonable for this type of dining. The ambience is suitable for a corporate dinner. The staff were polite. Entrees came out reasonable quick however the main meal took over 20 minutes to come out, by that time we were full and ready for dessert. The green tea crème brule was a hit! This place is also BYO.

I have been to Nine Fine Food a few times on different occasions and I have never been disappointed. You walk in this little restaurant and you feel overwhelmed by the intimate atmosphere. You have to book in advance, this place is popular and you understand later why. The server asks for our name and we’re heading to our table. She then asked if we’ve got any bottles; Nine Fine Food is BYO, perfect! I have a look at the menu, you’ve got 4 different choices if I recall well. A la carte, or 3,4 or 5 courses. I’m not that hungry but I want to try everything that is on the menu! I go for the 4 courses. The entrée is not too big, but it’s delicious, I’m not complaining, I take my time to savoure. It’s well presented and the taste is up to my expectations. The service is great, the server are aware and nice. Then comes the 2nd course, another entrée. Try the ‘caviar pasta’ it’s melting in my mouth. I keep sipping my glass of wine(not really sipping, the first bottle’s already gone!) and the main is coming. It’s big enough, it looks great and it tastes great. Pfeww I need a break! My dinner finishes on a high note with a light dessert. Oh no, it’s already time to leave! ‘Can we have the bill please?’ Living in Perth, it’s hard to find a fine restaurant for a reasonable price, I’m searching for several $ 100 bills… What a surprise when I saw how ‘cheap’ it was! I left a bit tipsy, so happy with my meal I might dream of Japan tonight! To sum up, Nine Fine Food is, to me one of the best place in Perth, where you can eat like a prince. Bravo to the chef!

The food was excellent. I had a sashimi starter which I paid a few more dollars for only tuna and salmon. Each piece was prepared slightly differently. I also had an additional soft shell crab cooked tempura style. The steak for main was prepared perfectly and the green tea brulee tasted great with a crunchy layer on top. It was slightly less than $ 70 including corkage. Our waitress was really nice but it was difficult to have a conversation about how i’d like my steak cooked, as her English wasn’t great, so in the end I asked for whatever the chef recommends which turned out well. There is a lot of ambient noise. I can’t wait to go back!

Really really enjoyed this place! My husband and I came here on our anniversary and we had a really special night. It was a Tuesday night and the place was packed — it’s only small and has a lot of atmosphere! It is BYO too which is awesome — my husband and I did the 5 course menu, highlights were the caviar pasta, sashimi, and the beef capriccio! Highly recommend this little gem!

It’s been a while since dining at Nine, so I was pleased to see it’s still consistent and awesome. Still BYO @ $ 3.50per bottle. Service was good. You now have to choose from a set menu, no more a la carte. So we went with the 3 course set menu which is a choice of Entrée, Main and Dessert from a selection of 4 dishes per course to choose from. I had the sashimi which was incredibly fresh, light and tasty. My friend had the salmon and scallop dish. We also ordered an additional soft shell crab to share and whilst not part of the set menu, they were very happy to accommodate. I had the scallop and duck confit for main, Jules had the beef. Neither of us wanted to share — a food sign when we loving wolfed it down :) We both had the green tea cream brûlée which was just brilliant — not too overtly sweet, little bit savoury due to the tea. A good palate cleanser and way to end the meal.

Nine Fine Food offers fine, quality, modern Japanese with a twist of Modern Australian flavours. It was my friend, C who recommended and chose to dine at Nine Fine Food to celebrate her 21st. For our dinner, we decided to order the TokuToku(3 course) set menu($ 53 pp). We were also given a few choices to choose for our Entrée, Main and Dessert. For the Entrée, 5 of us ordered the Agedashi Toothfish which consists of Pantagonian Toothfish, soft tofu, mushroom and wakame in Agedashi broth. It was a very good Entrée to start off with. The Agedashi broth was full of flavour and I nearly finished the whole broth. The Pantagonian Toothfish was cooked beautifully and the texture of the Agedashi Tofu was soft and silky. You can never go wrong with Agedashi Tofu. Not long after the Entrée, our mains arrived. I had the Confit Duck for my main. The Confit Duck presentation was executed very well with precision. The Confit Duck was cooked to perfection as it was very tender which blended well with the red wine and mirin reduction. The grilled scallops, tempura onion and sweet potato mash compliments the confit duck very well. This was one dish that definitely showcase the fusion of Modern Australian and Japanese flavours. To finish off the dinner, I had the Matcha Brulee. One spoonful of the Matcha Brulee and I was hooked. Another spoonful, I went to foodie heaven. It was so good, that after finishing it, I was left wanting more which I am sure the others on the table would agree. We were all very full and satisfied at the end of our dinner. Everything from the Entrée to the Mains and Dessert were executed to perfection. Service was top notch. Nine Fine Food is BYO and bookings are essential as the restaurant is very popular. The atmosphere in Nine Fine Food is perfect for celebrating a special occasion, catching up with friends or a dinner date. I will definitely be back to Nine Fine Food in the future.

I had the three course menu with Salmon sashimi, salmon and scallop, and gelato with chocolate banana roll. It was one of the best meals I’ve ever had! Definitely the best salmon I’ve ever had. The sauces that came with the first two dishes really made it stand out. The dessert was really good, especially the banana, but I think I would have liked the tiramisu more.

I came here for my boyfriends birthday and was so impressed with the food– everything was absolutely delicious! It was excellent service and the layout of the restaurant, the plating of the food and the overall feel of the place was fine dining. BUT I absolutely love that it is BYO as well. We decided to get the four course meal set which was $ 66 a head(we had a entertainment voucher as well so it bought it down to only around $ 90 so $ 45 each which was such a bargain for the quality of food). We ordered; Course 1– Sashimi(YUM! Equal to the standard we had in Japan) and beef tatiki Course 2– Pork & Pork and Lamb & Scallop(the lamb was so soft and tender and delicious Course 3– Tenderloin Steak and Confit Duck– both cooked so well and so tasty Dessert– Crème Burlee and Black sesame gelato(drool) We were absolutely stuffed by the end of this and didn’t have any complaints about any of the dishes they were all cooked to perfection and the people serving us were very friendly and attentive. We even gave them a tip and the guy at the desk said he wouldn’t scratch off our entertainment card so we could come back and use it again! I will definitely be coming back soon, even if we didn’t have the voucher it would still be worth it, especially because its BYO its saves so much money on what you would usually pay for a bottle of wine or two(at a restaurant like this at least $ 40 minimum per bottle)

Went with the boy for a date night one Friday, the restaurant was full, with a delightful atmosphere. Despite the restaurant being full we still had good service, and the food was lovely. We had the pork and pork, beef tataki and the lamb and scallops to start, all were good, but the lamb and scallops were the best. Then the duck and the barramundi, the barramundi was beautiful. Topped off with a green tea crème brûlée. Lovely.

Yummy yummy yummy! I visited here last night for a long awaited catch up dinner with a girlfriend. I always walk past here and gaze longingly at the delicious menu but the place never seems to be open. We made our booking for 7pm and armed with an entertainment card that promised 25% off(Thanks Lucinda. W) set off for dinner. The restaurant itself is quite small and a little boring looking. The lighting is nice and dim and the acoustics are good for conversation. We both picked the 4 course set menu at $ 63 pp as we were being piggies. I had — Sashimi, Pork & Pork, Duck & Scallops, Matcha Brulee. She had — Toothfish, Pork & Pork, Barramundi, Black sesame Gelato. While the courses are small they just seem to keep coming out as your belly keeps expanding. Everything we had was amazing & fresh. Special mention to the Pork & Pork entrée which should be called pork & pork & pork as there are three kinds of delicious pork on the plate. Tempura bacon(YESTHAT’S RIGHTBACON… DEEPFRIED), Pork belly & pork chops. SOYUM. The service was great with water & ice bucket for the BYO wine coming over quickly. BYO is only a few dollars per person making this quite a cheap night out for the quality of food you get. We left feeling stuffed full, a bit tipsy and very happy Would recommend for a date night or catch up with friends, even better when you have the entertainment book to make it extra affordable! The décor loses one star as it’s really not my style.

Nine Fine Food, is elegant fine dining at an extremely foodie friendly price, I have nothing but positive reviews for this venue. Oh what’s better the BYO too! The general nature of the venue is so serene but vibrant, the dark tone colours and use of wallpapers are amazing. It’s a definite 10⁄10 everyone make a booking ASAP. We will be coming here again.

All in all, the experience was not bad, but I was a bit disappointed. I’m open to going back and trying it again though. I got the Osusume(four-course meal) and chose the Sashimi, Kinoco Caviar pasta, tenderloin steak, and Kuro Goma gelato for dessert. The caviar pasta was very interesting and tasty at first, but a bit salty. The sauce that accompanied the tenderloin steak was too sweet. My steak was also undercooked. The Kuro Goma dessert was delicious and included fresh fruit with an accompanying sauce that was really nice.

This place is the best value quality food that you can get in pricey Perth for the price and lives up to its reputation! Coming here twice with friends we all got the $ 62 dollar set menu which is the perfect portion of food. In this there is two entrée which come from 2 different selections of 3 plates. Everyone at the table was very pleased but I must recommend the pork belly of course and the lamb was good too. For mains duck, or fish and pretty much I’ll be honest I had a pick at everyone’s at the table they were all delicious. Dessert was just the perfect amount also! But I give special mention the green tea crème brûlée. However, being that this place is BYO that is what topped the cherry. What a fantastic night out. I’ve recommended this place to everyone I know.

Nine Fine Food rates higher on restaurant review sites than Nobu and now I know why. This restaurant has positioned itself perfectly and delivers extremely well in food quality, pricing, service and atmosphere. I was taken here for a surprise dinner and boy was I happy my partner picked this place! First up, It’s BYO which meant we could take that special bottle of wine we had been saving to share over dinner(and didn’t have to break the bank paying over $ 50 for a bottle of wine like we do at most places these days). Next, the food. We opted for the 3 course set menu as this included all the dishes we wanted to order anyway. We ordered the Pork and Pork entrée and the Sashimi combination. Both dishes were truly delightful. For mains, we ordered the Barramundi and Confit Duck. The barramundi was cooked to perfection! Juicy and full of flavour. To finish off I had the green tea custard brûlée. I had my doubts when ordering but this was delicious! Light and delicate with the right crunch on top. The best part was being able to get through 3 courses and not feel comatose from eating way too much. The portion sizes were just right. And the service was friendly, prompt yet unobtrusive. Yep this place is a winner. Do yourself a favour and head there for dinner!

This place is amazing! My fiancé and I went here on Friday night for our anniversary dinner because it was recommended to us — and our friends were right! We bought the set 4 course menu, 2 entrees, a main and dessert each and the food was flawless. The pork and pork entrée is definitely worth a mention. There was enough food to feel full without being over full too. It was the best Japanese we have had in Perth, and it’s in the entertainment book is you get it even cheaper! The service was impeccable and it’s BYO so you save on booze too. I can’t say enough good things! We will definitely go back.

What makes this restaurant a favourite I think, is that it affords a sort of ‘accessible luxury’. Somewhere you can enjoy the pleasures of fine dining without completely blowing the budget. BYO + a comfortable and slightly sexy ambience + the offer of a $ 53 three course set menu. Date night material! The 3 course set menu is a hard deal to pass up, especially as you have about as many options on the à la carte. Never one to refuse salmon, I ordered the Scallop and Salmon main. Scallops were cooked perfectly, and the plate was decorated with sweet and delicate garnishes. The 6-way sashimi entrée is a wise order too. Some complain of inadequate serving sizes but for a wee lass like me, it was spot on. A rare three course meal where I haven’t felt the need to heave myself out of the chair afterward(And P. S. how often do you see overweight Japanese people?). Quality prevails over quantity. Wait staff are polite and synchronised, but could have been more attentive. No OMG food moments but lovely enough for me to return. Definitely book ahead.
