In our busy lives, we sometimes forget to slow down and«smell the roses». We’re working longer hours, we may be more run down & tired and we may forget to appreciate the small things in life. Three Bowls Café is an absolutely delightful place where you literally feel like you can stop & slow down to do just that. There is ample space in Three Bowls Café, with enough couches to cater for a «book club» or for people simply catching up on study with friends. Owners Lynne and Mo have created a beautiful café at Highgate Hill for you to come and enjoy delicious food, amazing coffee & cake, whilst being mindful about each mouthful of food and drink that you take. There are no traditional menus at Three Bowls Café. That’s right, there is simply a selection of things to choose from that will have meat, fish, chicken, vegan or vegetarian elements. For example, Lynn will give you a clue about an ingredient you may be eating, as well as ask what you may not like to eat, and the rest is a pure surprise. The food comes out gift-wrapped as a present, which you then unwrap to reveal the 3 bowls of food. Absolutely loved this! It is so unique. This is a Zen Buddhist tradition of mindful eating, & practices the idea of joyful giving, receiving, as well as the bowls representing Positivity, letting go of negativity, & freeing one’s self. There were so many intriguing choices. They have an all day menu that starts from $ 6.90 to $ 14.90 with Lunch, supper & take away menu starting from $ 11.90 to $ 18.90.Three Bowls Café appear to have a wide range of vegan & vegetarian options too. They also make homemade cakes and buscuits on premises with no nasties, as well as coffee, tea, & fresh juices. I was drawn to the vegan dish called«Japanese Spirit» for $ 16.90. Lynn mentioned this dish has tofu in it, which I love. I also ordered the«topical Breeze» for $ 6.90& a espresso which came with the note:” Growing old is compulsory. Growing up is not.” The coffee is their own house blend which tasted great! Without ruining the surprise for those who have not been to the Three Bowls Café(though you may be able to guess from the pic), my vegan lunch was fresh, delicious & was super filling. You will have to stop by and try it for yourself. Three Bowls Café has been on my to do list for a very long time, & I’m so glad i finally got to experience this unique café. It is a very special place, which is well loved by the locals. The owners are super welcoming from the moment you step through the door to the moment you leave. I highly recommend this place, if you want to have a memorable experience. Starting from today, every Friday and Saturday nights, they will be opening for dinner from 6pm.
