In the time the High Wycombe Tavern has been open for business, I have been a total of six times for dinner service and I can vividly remember each as they were just as awful as each other, barring one. That instance must have been so bad, my memory has chosen to exclude it completely. I’ve had a steak sandwich where the steak component was more gristle and fat than actual edible substance. The chicken Caesar I had one visit was fine, though the chicken could easily have been mistaken for cardboard. One of the specials one evening(I couldn’t possibly give you a name) was Hawaiian, or so the waitress had explained. Her description was delectable, the complete opposite of the dish that eventuated. I’d had a seafood pizza that I was absolutely positive had actually been dipped in the ocean before having being served, it was a soggy mess. Which brings me to my last meal. The reason for my return, I had been given $ 150 voucher and decided to give it one more go. My table counterparts all went with the mixed grill and we’re satisfied with their meals. I ordered the scotch fillet, surfed up. I had two of my guests taste the steak to ensure I wasn’t delusional — other than being mid-well to well(I order a mid-rare), it was tougher than jerky. The garlic sauce was not particularly garlicky and the prawns I palmed off to my eats-everything boyfriend. He admitted they were well and truly overdone. Appearing clean, the restaurant itself is noisy and it was noted by someone else on our last visit that it was for the more uhh«casual» diner in way of customers. I must point out, the service along the way was satisfactory except for our last experience, the server was fabulous — kudos! Unfortunately, it’s not enough to convince our party to return. I don’t get off on writing a not so favourable review, though I’m happy to admit I am brutally honest. I filled out a review card complete with my details over a week ago and am yet to receive any form of response. I’m sure the Tav is more than capable of serving satisfactory meals, just unfortunately not to me.

You can’t go wrong with a $ 10 steak sandwich and chips! Throw in a drink and you’ve got a $ 15 meal. I’ve had this at the High Wycombe pub more times than I can count on fingers and toes and I’ve never had a bad experience or meal… one day I may actually try something else on the menu. :)

For a pub or tavern meal, the High Wycombe Tavern ticks a lot of boxes. It’s a nice clean and modern setting with both and indoor and outdoor area, both a bar area and a seated restaurant. The meals served are decent portion sizes and taste lovely. Affordable and accommodating for a couple or a big group. I’ve been here a couple times and not been disappointed. If you’ve got a young family, there is a small playground n ext to the outdoor area. If you’re in the area, it’s a nice Sunday lunch places.

On Sunday they have cheap pizza and pints and they are so good. Cider is only $ 6.50 a pint ! Its nice to come here for a Sunday sesh except the tables are only 4 seats and they are screwed to the ground so you cant join them together which is very annoying. They also don’t have much shade. But the live band and cheap drinks makes it worth going.

A great friendly bar and restaurant. The meals are all reasonably priced and every night is wood fire pizza night which means you can order a pizza for $ 10. They have a good range of beer, wine and spirits which are slightly high priced but they do have some good specials. The only down fall I can say was that they forgot to send my desert order to the kitchen and after a half hour of waiting I then had to ask where my desert was. Another bonus would be that they have fun free poker every tues and Sunday night in the main bar which makes good for ambiance.

Very family friendly restaurant in High Wycombe. Children are welcome here, they even provide pens and colouring books for the kids. Nothing worse than the kids getting bored before the food is served! Menu is good, nice selection. Kids menu too. Reasonable price. Great place to take the family when you want a night of cooking. You can guarantee to find something on the menu for everyone. They also do yummy wood fired pizza. The surrounding are comfortable, modern, plenty room between tables. The restaurant is located beside the sports bar. There is a room divide between them both. There is also a nice out door alfresco area at the rear of the sports bar. It gets busy here at weekends wise to book. Staff are happy and friendly, i have eaten here a few times, enjoyed it each time. Service has always seemed pretty good. Just remember to put more water on the tables. A good all round place to have a nice hearty meal. I will be back! :-)

This is a really modern and classy looking restaurant in an ummmm not so modern and classy looking suburb. This is why I’ve never really had a drink here but I’ve gone for food multiple times. It’s always pretty good, never blows my mind but never disappoints me. They do have an awesome outside beer garden with a massive T. V screen. This would make for an awesome place to watch a sporting event UNLESS Danny Green gets his ass kicked and you have a bunch of angry Wycombe boys looking to do some damage of their own. All in all this is a nice place, above average food, wide range of drinks and pretty amazing woodfire pizza.
