Had lunch here — relaxed atmosphere. Chicken and avocado baguette was yummy. Baguette was great. The mini rolls with roast beef and salmon looked great. Selection of pastries also looked tempting. Must return and try and éclair.

If you are over the queues at some of the other popular Hawthorn /Glenferrie Cafes and have a serious carb craving, then say hello to Depot De Pain, a friendly French café, where you can get a seat quickly, grab the paper and gorge on any of the delicious treats on offer. I’m one of those annoying people at the moment, watching what I’m eating so I ignored the crepes, friands, pastries and all other deliciousness that were going around the and focused all my attention on the breakfast cassulote, which was a great choice to help avoid the carbs(because I’m being annoying at the moment). It was tasty and filled with some delicious protein like ham hock, beans and a nice little herb crust. I couldn’t finish it all. My breakfast date had the eggs Benedict, with the most amazing(artery clogging!) hollindaise, he too was defeated, but enjoyed it. Great little stop for a breakfast without the ridiculous crowds, not a great stop if you have self control issues or an epic sweet tooth. Then you are in trouble.
