I do not think that Ajisen Ramen is the pinnacle of amazing Japanese cuisine in Melbourne. After all, it’s a small chain with several locations. However, I still really like Ajisen Ramen — it’s cheap and at the same time hits the spot! Ambiance: If you’ve ever been to a branch of Ajisen Ramen, they all pretty much look the same. Personally, I think the atmosphere is really cool; they go for a bit of the chic modern look with large communal tables. Food: The prices for the food are well worth it for the quality. The mains will probably average to 10 dollars. Don’t be deterred by the name of the restaurant! Ajisen Ramen DOESNOT only sell ramen — there are rice dishes, bento boxes, and more! Being more of a fan of rice dishes than ramen(although I do love slurping some noodles!), I ordered Paiku Don, which is Tenderloin Ribs w/Sauce over Rice. The Tenderloin Ribs were pretty delicious, but the dish itself was quite simple. You can easily tell that the dish was quite easily made — the flavours were not complicatedly cooked. However, it was still delicious, filling, and all for 11 dollars. — You cannot go wrong with a meal at Ajisen Ramen. It is cheap and consistent! You can always depend on them for a tasty dish that doesn’t burn a hole in your wallet. If you’re taking someone out on a date or have a more important occasion, I wouldn’t recommend it for a fancy night out. Otherwise, give it a try!
