Having been completely renovated the new hamilton hill tavern is a far cry from the old one. with a bar/bistro and separate sports bar, all furnished to a high modern standard this is a lovely little place. The bar and bistro feels more like a hotel bar/restaurant than your local tavern, the meals are reasonably priced and the drinks specials are really good $ 8 pints and $ 5 stubbies on selected drinks. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

There’s a bit rough around the edges and then there’s the Hamilton Tavern. It’s a great joint, but it’s very much the domain of grumpy old barflies and tradies, making it not really compatible with the kind of bloke who has a profile picture like mine. That said, it’s a good place for a quiet drink. Every so often they have comedians in to perform, but it tends to be the Rodney Rude-style crude comedy that hasn’t been seen elsewhere since the late 80’s. It’s good to know you’ve got a proper, rough around the edges pub in your suburb; sometimes you need to escape into that kind of joint, they make for much better environments for drowning your sorrows than swankier bars.
