Lido Ristorante

Save your time and money, and eat a handful of sawdust. You’ll be much better off. I went here for a work lunch. The food is boring and overly-​priced, tastes like something from a year 11 home economics project, and the service mediocre at best. I ordered chicken that was dry and crap. Every single person on our table thought the whole experience was terrible. Never again. Hurry up and close up so that this great location can be snapped up by another eatery.

Ok. This is a bit of a joke now. Twice in a 3 months, my house mate and i went down to Glenelg to try out restaurants we found on entertainment book. Both times the restaurants we picked were closed.
So we ended up eating at another restaurant. So today we chose Lido. When we got there, there’s only one couple dinning in there. We were served water as soon as we had taken a seat. Pretty good. Proceeded to order two mains — Pork belly and lamb chop. The place is not packed but I think we waited 30 mins for the food. Well, at least whrn the food came, it’s not bad. The lamb is medium cooked. The meat is tender and juicy, mixed with red wine sauce and it’s really a delight. However I do not like the rice and the vegetables that came with it. The rice is slightly dry, probably long grain. And the vegetable is just 5 pieces of grilled pineapples which I don’t like. there’s also a tiny problem of the serving size… no… big problem… it’s not exactly filling enough. :(The Pork belly has a smoky taste to it, while the skin is a crispy, it’s a bit hard too. The meat is soft and chewy, really nice.
Overall, I like the service given. We were being checked upon twice by the waiting stuff for the quality of the food served. The food is fine too. A pity, the waiting time is slightly long, and the serving size is small.
Now the last part. After dinner.. the first downpour for the week! Rain rain rain. It looks like it’s only going to get heavier. Soaking wet and couldn’t run after a meal… it does made me wonder.. Is it worth the effort to eat out there tonight? –_-’

Got a shock when I walked in and found it was under new management. And that staff were a from a continent different to the style of food.
None of our party of six finished their meals. The curry tasted watered down, the duck was dry and I’m sure was cooked the previous day only to be reheated and fried to crisp the skin. Marinara pasta was too salty and used imported sea food.
Most mains are in the $ 30 range and wouldn’t pass even if we’re half price.
Avoid.

Lido has a great view of the seaside that adds to the joyful ambiance. Amazing outdoor seating
Food is awesome here. Succulent and juicy rib eye steak, and a rich glaze. After watching a lot of Hell’s Kitchen, I know that scallops can be destroyed even by a good chef, but these were absolutely perfect.
Lido’s speciality is oysters, as I’ve said before I’m not a huge oyster fan, but these were also something special. The menu has a range of other contemporary selections that all sound delicious.

The location of this restaurant is stunning and sure to get fish lovers in the mood for seafood as they gaze out over the water.
And the restaurant has numerous seafood dishes to choose from.
My bloke quite enjoyed the chargrilled octopus from South Australian waters, marinated in balsamic, lemon and oregano that was served with a mixed salad.
The spinach and ricotta ravioli I had here was pleasant. It also contained pine nuts, mushrooms and fresh basil, and was served in a rose sauce. It was a good balance.
This is more of an Australian take on a Mediterranean menu. It offers great Aussie dishes such as Northern Territory barramundi fillets and includes that vegetable not usually found in dishes on the Med but much-​loved by Australians and Americans, pumpkin. But there is more traditional Mediterranean fare too.
The staff are pleasant, but the service can be variable depending on how busy the restaurant is.
