The Academy of Swimming is a family owned and operated business which was one of the first private, independent academies for swimmers in Australia which did not require swimmers to join a swimming club.

Our swimming program allows swimmers to exercise for fitness and/​or competition in a fun swimming environment, meaning and your child does not have to be the next Ian Thorpe. It is the academy’s intent that each and every member enjoys this swimming journey. Our program is designed around ensuring that swimmers strengthen skills from a swim school program and therefore learn more challenging new skills. Swimmers have the option to do swimming training for any reason and is ideal for cross-​training for triathlons, surf lifesaving, and/​or water polo.

History

Established in 2003.

The Academy of Swimming is a family owned and operated business which was founded by Rodney Skudar. Rodney, a third generation swimming coach, has been coaching since his first days at his aunties swim school which was based at the Mt Scopus Memorial College in Burwood during 1997.

After 9 years running the Malvern Academy of Swimming at the Harold Holt swimming center on High St Glen Iris, it was exciting when opening at the Glen Eira Academy of Swimming at the Glen Eira Sports & Aquatic Centre or better know as GESAC in East Bentleigh.
