One of my favorite antiquarian bookstores in the world. Paul is knowledgable and fair. His auctions are packed with cool books. I will be a customer until the day he stops selling. I urge all rare book lovers to check this place out before Paul retires and this gem is no longer a storefront in charming Glebe. Awesome!

The Cornstalk Bookshop always entices me in with the $ 5 book table out the front. I always find truly interesting and bizarre books here and generally buy from this table for odd art projects I might have going at the time. Inside, however, is where the true beauty lies. Back room after little room after another room after the first room, this place is a like a second hand book maze. Luckily the two wonderful owners know the shop back to front and can find what you are looking for in a matter a minutes. Just like the time I asked for ‘1984’ by George Orwell, the fellow got off his chair, walked to the back back back room and pulled it directly down off the shelf. And for $ 15 for a hard cover vintage book, I’m not complaining. If you are looking for a book, try asking at The Cornstalk Bookshop because even if they don’t have it, you might just make a friend along the way.

The Cornstalk Bookshop is a funny little place. Several times I had walked past and noticed their selection of used books on display with the advertisement to «Fill a box for $ 15» Not ever feeling passionate about the vintage pop psychology or sci fi labels that seemed to dominate the selection, I usually just kept walking. Just recently, I was trying to find a perfect 1900s hardback book in order to make a clutch handbag out of its cover. Not ever having actually stepped through the shop’s doors, I decided to see what was inside. To my delight, I found a whole entire wall of classics with gorgeous embossed covers, all perfect for my project. With an array of sizes and prices ranging from $ 10 to $ 110 per book, I was able to come away with exactly what I needed, and without breaking the bank at that.
