If a Groupon is offering cheap meal be careful because they will take over an hour to cook something that will risk your health. They may have been told to clean up their act though if they would originally treat people like nothing in 2015 what will 2016 be like. Hope you have the sense to stay clear of this death trap. Sorry JamVybz but not even when doing the stands at local festivals do you get the customers. You did not care when you caused hospitalisation not even a refund.

First time. Spectacular. Delicious and new flavours. Second time… Service so so slow. And the stuffed sweet potato was just so empty. Inconsistent and why not put more in the sweet potato? It was expensive but portion sizes do not match.

The curried goat was to die for and the coconut rice is divine. We were disappointed by the jerk chicken and rice portion size, we expected more. It was extremely tasty though. Lovely staff.

JamVybz opened very recently on Glebe Point and my flatmate brought their menu home, which looked exotic (jerk chicken anybody?) so I decided to try it out on a Wednesday night.
Despite being located on Glebe Point Road, it’s easy to miss the place — they haven’t put up a sign! A landmark to find the place would be popular bar across the road — The Little Guy. First impressions — very caribbean, island themed place, Bob Marley posters, a grass hut cashier canopy thing in the corner, colorful tables, dim lighting, and overall a good date place. I went with three friends (tough crowd to begin with) at 7.45 and we placed our order around 7.55pm.
The menu is not extensive, but is still varied enough to suit different palates — I noticed vegetarian, meat, and seafood options, and plenty of sides. Mains come with the order of 2 sides and are priced between $ 14.99 to $ 21.99.
Our order was:
Jerk chicken (salad + rice & peas)
Jerk chicken (fries + rice & peas)
Chicken curry (fries + potato salad)
Stuffed sweet potato (this was an appetizer, she was on weight watchers)
The food came at 9.15pm (over an hour later), and it looked like they were quite short staffed so the boys got quite cranky (and this is basically why I gave it 3 stars instead of 4!). The place looks like it’s family run — so they’re very warm, friendly, and welcoming. Apparently they also have dancing later on in the night if you’re up for it!
The food itself was quite delicious. It tasted like traditional Jamaican home cooking and I genuinely enjoyed it. It wasn’t elaborately textured or flavored in any way, which was a refreshing change! My chicken was well seasoned, soft and well cooked, and my rice and peas was excellent!
My friends who ordered their chicken said the same about their food. However, the friend who ordered her stuffed sweet potato had some trouble with her dish, Her sweet potato was very large, stuffed with chicken and other little veggies and garnishes. She finished the stuffing, but the steamed sweet potato was MASSIVE. She barely finished half of it.
On the whole, I would like to go back, but I would make sure that I am not in a hurry of any sort as the food does take quite long to prepare. There was a table that complained about the delay, but we realized they were short staffed and decided not to say anything about it.
I definitely recommend this place.
