Best butter chicken and keema lamb ever! The first time I’ve actually taken leftovers home in years! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to try something new but not too adventurous haha.

Hands down the best lamb shank I have ever tasted, period. Place is also very cute and friendly, with a delicious selection of teas. The slow cooked masala beef is also a win. Bottom line stop in.

When you order the butter chicken it does not come with rice. Have to order on the side, the rice portions are not the biggest either. Conversely the quality of the butter chicken was that of a first class flight sitting next to hull hogan. They make bold statements about their lamb shanks being the best in Sydney. They were decent but by no means the best in Sydney. Mickys do better. Comparitvely like black & gold bread against a bakery. Overall pleasant experience and satisfied.

Love the food and service here. We went there for a birthday dinner and ordered the banquet. It was $ 33/person and included 4 entrées, 4 mains and a dessert. The entrees included a fried lentil and potato dish, dumplings, marinated grilled lamb and papadums. The mains consisted of a vegetable dish, a lentil curry, a beef curry and grilled chicken with spices along with Nan bread and plenty of rice. We were so full after all that and the waitress kindly offered to delay serving the dessert till a bit later so that we can digest our food. I don’t think I’ve been to a restaurant in Sydney where they’ve offered to delay the dessert, as usually they’re wanting to get their customers through quickly so that they can make the table for more customers; so that was quite refreshing. For dessert we had ice cream with cottage cheese dumplings. It was quite sweet and delicious! On top of that I have to add that the staff were exceptionally friendly. I’ve been to Nepal before and am planning on making a return trip there soon and they were telling me all about their trekking trips(they did both annapurna circuit and everest base camps) they made when they return to Nepal to visit family. Great food and service! 5 stars!

Very good meal. Portion size on the small to medium size so no left overs :) Best butter chicken I’ve had. Would recommend!

I love Nepalese cuisine for its variety of flavours and rich curries — and Himalayan Char Grill never fails to please. Originally opened in Mosman in 1996, the owners have since expanded to additional restaurants in Crows Nest and Glebe. The food of Nepal varies significantly across regions, and the Himalayan Char Grill menu does an amazing job of giving customers a tasty cross-section. Though they could probably run these restaurants serving their famous lamb shanks alone — and for good reason. Order your share with potatoes for fall-off-the-bone, melt-in-your-mouth, every-food-metaphor-you-can-think-of deliciousness. The tomato-based sauce is rich and the meat lip-smackingly good. Highly recommended.

Nepalese cuisine is exactly like Indian food minus the spice. And I quite like it this way now. Himalayan Char Grill is a cozy restaurant in the popular suburb of Glebe. Their tables are quite small and create an intimate atmosphere. There is a Buddha statue which adds to the ambience. I enjoyed the Aloo Mushroom with Rotis. The masala papadums are uniquely tasty. There isn’t a lot of Vegetarian dishes to choose from though and thats my only negative about this place. The service was quick and professional. The friendly waiter was engaging and although we didn’t have a reservation, he was able to accommodate us easily.

Himalayan Char Grill is a good restaurant bringing unique Nepalese cuisine to the suburb of Glebe. I have been here on several occasions and always left satisfied. The restaurant is small and inviting and we always receive warm smiles as we enter and leave the restaurant. The service is extremely attentive and staff will offer suggestions if you need them. For entrée I thoroughly enjoy the Samosa Chat($ 11.90), Poleko Bhanta($ 13.90) and Roti($ 3) with a Side Dish Platter($ 5.50). All are delicious in flavour, use the right amount of herb and spice and are made with good quality fresh ingredients. For main I usually get Char Grilled Lamb($ 18.90). The lamb back strap is tender and has evidently been left to marinate overnight. It is served char grilled on a potato cake and salad. Yum! I have also tried the Lamb Shank, Goat Meat and Kaju Beef, all wonderful in flavour and spices. If you a looking for an authentic restaurant with big flavour and a bit of a twist, I encourage you to try Himalayan Char Grill. For those still studying, they have a 10% discount for students.
