Great café. Nice selection of food. I love the meatball gnocchi. Would recommend to a friend.

This is a nice little café that fits right into the vibe of Glebe. Had the pancakes and my wife had the baked eggs — both of these plates are well worth it! A good portion of pancakes, plenty of maple syrup and a bunch of strawberries thrown on top of the ricotta and banana — all together makes an unreal breakfast. The baked eggs with chorizo were good — a good amount of chorizo and the bread that it comes with was tasty. The coffee. Wife had a long black but couldn’t finish it, not sure about their milk coffee but black coffee here is not great. They’ve got some juices — expected. The vibe is pretty cool, claims cosy but doesn’t deliver that. Has a really cool book that you can sit in for the ‘cosy’ experience, it’s pretty comfy but I wouldn’t describe it as cosy. Overall a pretty nice place that I will return to, their food is good! Food 7⁄10 Drink 6⁄10 Atmosphere 7⁄10 Overall 6.6÷10

I went into clipper for breakfast fairly early with my family on a Saturday morning. The service was friendly and the coffee was really great! I got lucky and my baked eggs were the pick of the menu(and a generous serving too!) everyone else enjoyed their brekkies but mine was the clear winner. Value for money was spot on.

I’ve been here a couple of times and don’t remember having anything amazing though I do remember ordering a smoked salmon dish that was sooooooo salty I couldn’t even eat it. It was not cheap either! I had a mushroom soup once which was ok.

Yum! This is such a cute little café with a comfortable and laid back vibe. My sister and I shared the salmon and avocado on toast as well as baked eggs topped with chorizo. The food is comforting and flavoursome. Service was great and we were tended to quickly however the food took a while to come out, say 15 minutes. We ordered smoothies and they came out quicker but didn’t have as much ice as we’d have liked, still, the smoothies were delicious. Definitely will come back!

I ate breakfast here last month on my last morning in Australia and it was the cutest spot! I ordered the banana bread with ricotta, berries and honey — so delicious! I would highly recommend this café to anyone and wish I could’ve visited this place again!

I think what I like most about this place is the ambiance. Some of the food items are excellent and others arent as good. The coffee is usually pretty good too. On Saturdays it is a tricky feat to get a table because of its proximity to Glebe markets so you may have to be patient.

Menu has lots of selections and most sound tempting. I ordered the salmon, avocado, capers and poached eggs on sourdough. Tasted really fresh and good quality(especially the bread). The omelette also tasted great. The juice was healthy, fresh, sweet and refreshing. Prices were very reasonable, probably because the café is catering to the student crowd at Sydney Uni(the salmon avocado dish was $ 11). At cafes elsewhere, my dish would have cost $ 16 — $ 20. Would come back for sure.

Had the baked beans with eggs and sourdough toast here, on 3 occasions. Also had a number of other dishes but cannot recall them specifically. The baked beans dish was amazing. The sauce nicely complemented the beans while the portion was generous. Also, the healthy homemade drinks were amazing. The drink with the lime in it was very refreshing in particular. Will be back for more.

I love to swing in here during the afternoon. It’s a solid spot to take a break and sip some of their house chai latte(it’s the real stuff, not some pre-made mix out of a cardboard box). Food here is okay. I enjoyed the bagel and smoked salmon, though prepare for it to be different than your expectations if you’re from the US. Overall a good place to pop in for a breather.

Coffee was a bit average but the baked egg with chorizo hit the spot! Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and if I wasn’t from out of town, would probably go back.

Finally got around to trying out the Clipper Café yesterday, and while it’s got a really cool look to it, and a great location right on the corner of Glebe Point Rd and Broadway, it just didn’t quite deliver. We were lucky enough to snag a couple of seats outside, and ordered our coffees at the bar inside, and then went back out and waited for them to be brought out. Despite the cool look of the place, it’s actually pretty dark inside, and the counter is all the way in the back, so it’s not really well laid out if you want to just grab a coffee on the fly. As for the coffee, the wife had a long black, and I had a flat white. My flat white was fine, nothing crazy, but you’re not a connoisseur if you’re drinking fw’s anyway. But the wife’s lb suffered from the cardinal sin of coffee, it was so hot, she could barely hold the cup. I ended up going back in and getting a take-away cup and some ice to cool it off. I know you want the coffee hot, but there’s no need to serve it up boiling. The best shops in town know this and always serve it just a little north of comfortable. Anyway, didn’t try to the food, maybe another time, but with Badde Manors and the place next door, I’m not sure we’ll be back.

Friends of mine are working there, good atmosphere, great snacks and the best coffee! Free Wifi, good possibility to spend some hours. Favourite café in Sydney.

I love Clippers for it’s small and cozy atmosphere but I’m not too sure how I feel about the wait time and the food. I ordered a french onion soup — which tasted bland and lacked that savory taste you crave in a french onion soup. The coffee was alright — you can certainly find better coffee in Glebe. The crowd is very relaxed. Half of the crowd is mostly USyd students and the other half are probably recent USyd graduates and a few professionals here and there. Oh. and notice the woman with blond dreadlocks sitting at one of the outside tables, she is always there :)! Because the café is so small the seating is arranged so tightly — adding to it’s intimate and cool atmosphere. I’m not sure if I’d pick this place for it’s food but definitely for it’s ambiance!

I used to love Clipper. The affair is over. Went for a Sunday brunch and I ordered the poached eggs with salmon, avacado and asparagus($ 13) and a short back($ 3). The coffee came out pretty quickly but was burnt. We then waited about 40 minutes for our food. Yes, it was busy, but come on. When the food finally came it was pitiful. 2 tiny thin slices of sourdough with a bit of mushed avo and 1 slice of salmon laid across… :(and ½ an asparagus spike… literally ½… sliced lengthways and laid limply across the top. Point for the eggs being runny but overall the worst café breakfast I’ve had in a very long time. I have to say though that the wait staff are great. For what it’s worth…

So disappointed! This place seems to have gone downhill in the last couple of years, or perhaps I’m going uphill? In any case, on my plate was bacon, avocado, tomato, fetta cheese and sourdough. I will comment on them in order: cardboardy, smooshed and lemony, good, flavour-less, average. So yes, the tomato was good and everything else was disappointing. I also found the coffee overly bitter. There are better cafes in Glebe, try one of those instead. :(

Of the Glebe Point Road café cluster, Clipper remains my favourite. There are three reasons for this. 1. The light: it’s not as dark as the old Badde Manors, and although Clipper is small, it always feels airy. 2. The smoothies: these are always filled up with fruit, yogurt and ice-cream — they really don’t skimp out on them. 3. On weekdays, it’s a good place to sit and read, and the staff are pretty happy for you to hang around doing this(though they may ask if you want another coffee). Clipper’s coffee is pretty good too(not exquisite, but pretty satisfying). I like the tall tables with stools, if you’re lucky enough to get one. The staff are quite friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed and not tooooooo trendy. Clipper’s baked eggs are filling & tasty(though not really extraordinary creations, if you’re a foodie you may not be that impressed). The salads are filled with proteiny goodness too. Prices are fairly moderate. Also, they have a nice little display shelf at the back, which previously held all manner of cactuses, but right now has little ceramic trinkets. Very cute.

Clipper café was a word of mouth find.(They are the best kind). I went there with a friend to talk about the work I did with her, and we ended up playing scrabble. The opening hours are 6am-6pm, I wish they were open longer because 6pm is way too early. Coffee is great and food options are simple and amazing. Think avocado and tomato and basil on turkish toast. Actually, there are quite a few menu items with something on toast. There is also a selection of freshly baked little cakes and such, ready for afternoon tea. The café doesn’t have much seating, so weekends are a little dicey for getting a table. Be prepared to share a massive table, sit on a stool or up against the windows(not bad options, just different). The décor is super cool and its a great place to sit back and just be.

With an intriguing interior design of whites and blues and tables made out of old benches. Clippers café with their posters of local artists running up and down the pillars, is a nice spot to meet for a coffee and for a chat. The problem with Clippers is that there are a lot of people that feel that way, given its relaxed environment and proximity to the main campus of Sydney University, it is a hotspot for students and young people to converse, consume and relax. The muffins are a tasty treat and the coffee is nice. I’ve also enjoyed the milkshakes from here, time and again. There is, however, a cramped feeling inside as the premises are quite confined and the amount of people inside at any one time can make it feel a little claustrophobic, so if you’re okay with that then this is the place for you.

More than just a great value, Clipper serves some of the best brunch around. It’s usually crowded with a sound level to match, something I would normally consider a flaw, but this café is endearing and cozy, bright and neighborly. All ingredients are local and it’s the same menu all day long. I started off with a strong coffee, around $ 3. But my main dilemma was deciding whether I was in a sweet or savory mood. For me, it was a toss up between sweet ricotta pancakes and baked five-different beans– but the beans, accompanied with halloumi and poached eggs, sounded to good to pass up. Our food took about 30 minutes to arrive at the table. I’m not sure if they were understaffed in the kitchen, or if that was the norm, but I’m glad I was patient that morning. There was one waitress, a very friendly girl who was impressively successful at seating, taking orders, and serving all the customers. The beans were hearty and flavorsome(tasted very homemade) and the eggs were well-poached. From what I remember, everything on the menu is under $ 15 and looked quite appetizing. I highly recommend! Note: during peak lunch hours, it’s a bit loud to read or work on your computer, but there is free Wi-Fi for when you need it.

When Clipper first opened on Glebe Point Rd a couple of years ago I remember the animosity it stirred in Glebe’s society of café owners. «It’ll never last,» they said. «Sure it might seem nice in winter, but it’ll be a sauna come summer.» But, as spring followed winter and summer trickled after, the café(which had installed heavy duty fans to combat its sunny side of the street) continued to sprawl with customers who couldn’t get enough of Clipper’s amazing coffee/breakfast/good-looking Scottish owner. Now, a few years on, the café is just as sweet as ever. Having clearly found its crowd in Glebe’s student population, free wifi lures Sydney Uni students there between classes and netbooks are as common as newspapers on the rubbed-back wooden benches. With bicycles and guitars mounted on the walls, Lonely Planet guides propped on the shelves and various other vintage paraphernalia(Quote Dad to Mum: «Hey Cheryl, doesn’t this place look like the Garage Sale we had in ’79?»), Clipper is cosy but not cramped, quirky but not too cool and boasts a brekkie menu that steps outside eggs-any-way and makes everything tasty with lashings of berries and ricotta. Whilst you might have to wait a while for a table on weekends, the staff are beatiful(despite the fact the hot-Scot is no longer around) and will recognise your face even if it’s been a few months. Do: Try the Bircher museli on a sunny Saturday morning. Don’t: Go without cash, expecting to pay on card. But don’t worry, there’s a handy chalk drawing of the nearest ATM so you don’t get lost.
