If you’re in doubt of where to take your vego/vegan friends look no further. They will about lose their minds here. Even if you’re not of the vegetarian persuasian the food here is rich and filling and the deserts plentiful. Be prepared to pay a little more and wait a little longer because of the quality of their food.

This place has a really nice, friendly vibe to it. I like going to Badde Manors after having dinner elsewhere in glebe, and sitting and having a delicious chia latter(REALCHIA!) and one of their many yummy desserts. In terms of the menu, the food is all vegan, so there isn’t a lot of choice for those non-vegans, and the coffee is average. But it is definitely worth coming here for the chilled out vibe and the local art that is for sale at the counter. Very cool.

We had a pleasant light lunch here. The chai was good, bruschetta and salad were okay. Service was alright. I wasn’t wowed by anything, but I would come back if already in the area.

Badde Manors is something of a Glebe tradition. It specializes in healthy vegetarian food, with the added temptation of an amazing array of cakes and gelato. The dishes can be a bit hit and miss at times, likewise the service. But the cosy familiar feeling makes up for it.

I am finally visiting Badde manors on a beautiful Saturday morning. This eclectic vegetarian restaurant is an apparent neighbourhood staple and much larger than you imagine. I’ve been by literally everyday since i’ve moved to Glebe on the bus or on foot. I’m sitting in the back sun conservatory at a marbled french bistro table for two. I must say that the décor is a little run down, cracked tile, dirty walls with hundreds of musical/theaterical posters on the wall — dust on the flight fixtures. But what Badde Manors lacks in appearance makes up for in customer service and quality vegetarian food — which might I add arrived incredibly fast. I like that i had table service here when so very few cafes offer it. I wanted to get the poached eggs on a corn fritter but unfortunately they were out of the fritter so I had em’ put it on toast instead. Beautiful hollandaise sauce and combo fresh and grilled tomato with steamed spinach… I wanted seconds :) I wish there were more vegetarian restaurants in Glebe amongst the twenty dozen cafes and bars. It is apparant that the people want this food! I especially rarely order ham or sausage with breakkie and so I can’t wait to come back and try other options!

I’m the type of person who thinks that a vegetarian breakfast just won’t cut it — I need protein, damn it! But the menu at Badde Manors has changed me. The mushrooms on toast — with lashings of ricotta, tomato slices and a not-so-subtle touch of garlic — was delicious, and will have me coming back for more vegetarian/vegan meals. Make sure you grab a table outside as the ambiance inside does seem a little bit dreary with the crowded pew-like chairs. Overall — a great breakfast café which will leave you feeling satisfied and a little less guilty for not stuffing your face with bacon.

Badde Manors will always have a special place in my heart. This is where I had an interview for what turned out to be my first job in Australia! But I digress. I was surprised when I found out they serve breakfast and lunch… because I’ve always come here for dessert! And it has never disappointed. During my latest visit, we ordered the triple chocolate mud cake and sticky date pudding. Yum. It’s got a nice, cozy vibe. Employees are always friendly and cheerful. This is my to-go place for an after-dinner dessert in Glebe!

We were looking for breakfast, thinking eggs, vege and protein(balanced meal). We walked in and ordered a big breakfast. Oh… It is vege /vegan. Expectations management was an issue… Overall food was average and the scrambled eggs were small in portion. Coffee was a bit watery for us. The mushrooms were nice.

A local favourite café in Glebe(or indeed Sydney’s inner-west). Opens early and closes at midnight usually. Good vegan menu. Do try the LSD(latte soy dandelion) as a coffee substitute if you visit late-night. Outdoor seating with shades. Park at Broadway shopping centre(2 hours free) and walk down the ramp to Glebe Point Road.

The menu at Badde’s sounded so good that our coffee stop quickly evolved into a 3 course meal … and a very good one at that. Those of the vegetarian /dessertatarian persuasion will be particularly stoked about this place. Here’s the score(in order of deliciousness): **** Cannoli — seriously great, and the other options in the dessert counter looked amazing. **** Moroccan Style Fritter Stacks — Awesome. Had never heard of these before, but they are a very good idea … **** Apple cider — excellent **** banana bread — excellent **** Vegetable soup — hearty & delicious **** Veg lasagna — very good *** Chai(w/coffee, not tea) — Personally, I prefer a sweet chai over a spicy, but if you like spicy, give it a go.

Amazing vegan choices. We had the Vegan Big Breakfast and when we were done we ordered the avocado Bruschetta for lunch. Cakes and icecream looked delicious too. I could have stayed there all day! Loved the place. Really wish we had a place like that at home. Service was great too. Perfect.

Pros: Great Chai, took me back to Byron! Excellent selection of cakes, great cosy atmosphere for a chat or book read. Can get quite busy, so it doesn’t see to be a struggling business. Food quality is great, I had the apple and rhubarb crumble with ice cream. Cons: — Wasn’t very impressed when I was asked to be moved to a smaller table, profits over customer service became the priority there. — The odd waft of exhaust from the street can be unsettling if you are sitting outside.

My recent stops in here have been for coffee, but must admit they serve possibly the best Chai tea I’ve had.(Get a pot at a table, the take aways aren’t quite as good) Apparently the Corn fritters are pretty good to, will stop for food next time I’m in there.

Been here twice and I find the food was quite alright, average in my books. Gotta love the waitress who just comes with food and asks if those plates are yours. Then again, with some drinks a few minutes later. Must be their system(or lack thereof?). In any case, maybe it’s what I ordered(the Eggs Florentine). Don’t remember what I ordered here the first time(hmmm…could that be a sign?). However, it is a cute café.

If I was the newly-deposed editor of a student newspaper looking to work out a way to get my position back this is the place I’d come to mull over ways to do it. Similarly, if I was in a garage band and needed to sack my friend who was also our drummer to make way for someone I didn’t know but who was more talented and might take our band to places it hadn’t been before, this is where I’d come. If it was a Tuesday afternoon and I was trying to woo a flaky yet super cute arts student who gets around in weird mismatched emo clothes but still manages to look kinda foxy and we had an hour to kill before our next tute, you better believe Badde Manors is where I’d come. If I was Glebe’s answer to Che Guevara and was in my formative years before embarking on a decade of significant agitation, yep, Badde Manors again. It’s that kinda place.

A lot has been said, so I’ll keep this short and sweet: BM is bohemian glebe institution, now quite long in the tooth, but rather consistent over that period. It’s a great spot for eavesdropping on crazy conversations, and, as others have said, the chai is not to be missed. There is an outrageous selection of cakes(always in generous portions), best to have them a la mode.

Although Badde Manors does generally have, true to its name, bad manors, I still find my way back to this place time and time again. It might be because of the delicious toasted bagels I love so much or the seductively tempting desert menu filled with ricotta cannoli, triple chocolate mud cake and sticky date pudding. Once we waited over an hour and a half for our food because our waiter took the order home with her when she clocked off at the end of her shift. There were no apologies and no offers of a deducted bill or free desert at the end of the meal. Another time I waited over 40 minutes for my bagel and it came out charred to the end of the earth. I was on a lunch break and didn’t have time to wait another 40 minutes so I got a refund and left. These little mishaps keep me from being a regular at Badde Manors but aren’t enough to keep me away for good. If you are a vegetarian Badde Manors is definitely a place you should visit. And even if you’re not, you will enjoy just the same.

What can I say to you of Badde Manors which has not already been said? Not much. Oh well. Wait! Here’s something. When dining at this café, my suggestion to you is to opt for the outdoor seating. Either front or back, doesn’t matter. The wooden bench seats inside are like church pews which really hurt. So if you sit inside and get stuck into an interesting and engrossing conversation(and why shouldn’t you, you deserve it, go on and treat yourself), you will probably get up with an extremely stiff back. As others have said, the menu is both affordable and delicious, and to be open for so many years and command such devotion means that they have to be doing something right. So try and avoid the inside seating and get yourself some rays and a big breakfast. I’ve come here many times for coffee and left with breakfast in my stomach. I’m always surprising myself like that.
